On the last afternoon of the year, under the gentle, warm sunshine, traffic in Hai Phong remained smooth but still carried the familiar hurried pace of the transitional moment. Amidst the rushing vehicles heading home, there was the anticipation of a peaceful, prosperous, and hopeful new year. The Tam Giang roundabout area ( Hai Duong ward) no longer experiences prolonged traffic congestion or the incessant honking of horns. Le Hong Phong Street was quite clear on the 29th day of the Lunar New Year, a stark contrast to the hustle and bustle of the previous few days. Under the warm afternoon sun, the wide road allowed traffic to flow smoothly, eliminating the long queues at every intersection. The spring flower market around Thong Nhat Square now only has a few vendors remaining, tending to their last remaining pots of peach blossoms and kumquats. Gone are the bustling scenes of buyers and sellers, the lively calls of vendors and shoppers from previous days; the atmosphere has become quieter and more subdued. On the streets, many people are still rushing to buy the remaining peach and kumquat trees to display in their homes before New Year's Eve. The last ferry trips from Dong Bai - Cai Vieng on the afternoon of the 29th of Tet (Lunar New Year) continued to depart regularly, taking locals and tourists from Cat Ba Island back to the mainland to celebrate Tet. Under the warm year-end sun, lines of vehicles boarded the ferry in an orderly fashion, without the long waits seen during peak days. At the Nam Cuong intersection, the section connecting to National Highway 5 has significantly less traffic than in previous days. Gone are the days of trucks and cars crowding together waiting for traffic lights; traffic flows smoothly in all directions. Highway 5 was more open and peaceful than usual. The traffic was sparse, moving in both directions, each journey carrying the anticipation of returning home, bringing to a close a year full of changes. On many streets, sanitation workers are busy completing their last shift of the year. Under the warm afternoon sun, they diligently sweep and collect the last bags of trash of the day, tidying up each trash can and sidewalk to ensure the streets are clean before New Year's Eve. Cat Bi International Airport remains brightly lit, welcoming those returning home for Tet (Lunar New Year) and international tourists who choose the port city as their destination for the spring season. On this last afternoon of the year, the roads, ferry terminals, and airport of Hai Phong still maintain their usual rhythm of activity, but without the usual hustle and bustle. Traffic has thinned out, the streets are cleaner, the flower markets are less crowded, and the last ferries and flights of the year continue to regularly transport people back to their hometowns for Tet (Lunar New Year). Smooth traffic not only facilitates travel but also contributes to a complete and peaceful end-of-year afternoon.DO TUAN - NGUYEN CUONG
