The streets of An Cau village, Vinh Thuan commune, are brightly decorated to welcome Tet (Lunar New Year).

The lights of spring shine brightly.

In the late afternoon, as the sun gradually sets, the main road leading into An Cau village (Vinh Thuan commune) begins to light up. Trees on both sides of the road are decorated with twinkling lights, the light reflecting off the smooth concrete surface and the vibrant red and yellow flags, creating a scene that is both familiar and fresh.

Ms. Nguyen Thu Hien, a resident of An Cau village, happily shared that this year the village road is beautifully decorated, with even a check-in point where villagers and people from the commune can stop to take photos and capture beautiful moments as spring arrives.

According to information from the Vinh Thuan Commune Public Service Center, this year's Tet holiday saw the unit invest over 200 million VND to decorate a 400-meter stretch of road in An Cau village. This section of road passes by the commune's People's Committee headquarters. The unit also erected red flags along National Highway 10 in the area. A check-in point, approximately 30 square meters in size, was also set up to capture colorful photos reflecting the traditional Tet atmosphere, allowing villagers, visitors, and others to stop and take pictures.

Not only An Cau, but many other villages in Hai Phong also simultaneously lit up their streets early. Village roads and alleys were adorned with national flags, banners welcoming the spring, and colorful decorative lights. In many places, people even voluntarily contributed funds to beautify their village roads for Tet. Mr. Le Minh Hieu, from Trang Liet 1 village, Thanh Ha commune, said that he and other households in the village jointly contributed over 300 million VND to "light up" nearly 1 km of rural road to welcome the spring. His family alone contributed over 8 million VND to build dozens of electric pole arches across the road, hang flashing lights, and plant national flags. "When the road is bright, the village is also bright. After working hard all year, decorating a little for Tet brings joy and strengthens the bonds of community," Mr. Hieu shared.

Along with decorating the village streets, community centers such as cultural houses, football fields, and children's playgrounds are also being renovated and cleaned up, ready for cultural and artistic activities to celebrate the Lunar New Year.

Along those brightly lit streets, the elderly strolled leisurely, children played happily, and everyone clearly felt the approaching Tet holiday. Many passersby, captivated by the beauty, stopped to take photos, admiring the daily changes in their hometown. Especially noteworthy were the kindergarten teachers and young people here, who had prepared their traditional ao dai dresses and applied makeup to gracefully pose on the streets adorned with the national flag.

The festive atmosphere in rural Hai Phong today stems not only from the colorful flags and decorative lights but also from the noticeable changes in the spiritual lives of the people. The muddy dirt roads of yesteryear have been paved with concrete. Many new, spacious houses have sprung up amidst lush green gardens. The material and spiritual lives of the people are increasingly improving.

According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Hanh, Secretary of the Party Branch of Trang Liet 1 village, Thanh Ha commune, many roads in the village used to be dark, and the lighting system was not standardized. Now, the villages have jointly decorated the streets with lights to welcome Tet (Lunar New Year), and have also contributed funds to repair and maintain the power poles and streetlights annually. Along with the decorative lights, the effective operation of the security camera system also contributes to maintaining security and order, allowing people to enjoy the spring festival and celebrate Tet with peace of mind.

Most residents contributed money themselves to decorate the section of road in the village.

A noticeable new trend this spring is the spread of popular photo spots in urban areas to rural regions. While previously only cafes and neighborhoods invested in photo opportunities, now many villages and hamlets also have elaborately decorated spring-themed corners. This shows the increasingly rich spiritual life of rural people, contributing to a joyful and enthusiastic atmosphere in the community.

According to Mr. To The Hung, Deputy Director of the Public Service Center of Vinh Thuan commune, the process of decorating village roads and alleys received great consensus and support from the people. "The enthusiasm of the people has spread into a movement. Many other villages and hamlets have also proactively joined hands and contributed to making the countryside more beautiful in the days leading up to Tet," Mr. Hung said.

In the days leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year), many villages in Hai Phong don a vibrant appearance, rivaling even the city streets. As evening falls, decorative lights illuminate the village roads, and flags and flowers stretch along every alleyway, creating a dazzling and warm atmosphere. The villages, once accustomed to a peaceful pace of life, become more bustling and vibrant, vividly showcasing the increasingly civilized and modern life of rural Hai Phong.
