Ericsson deploys Viettel's 5G network.

DNVN - Viettel Group, a military-owned telecommunications and industrial corporation, has selected Ericsson as the main partner to deploy components of Viettel's 5G RAN (Radio Access Network) in most provinces and cities nationwide.

Ericsson will deploy 5G networks for Viettel in Hanoi, the northern regions, and the central provinces. Simultaneously, Ericsson will also modernize Viettel's 4G network in these geographical areas.

Ericsson's portfolio of advanced Radio System technology solutions will help enhance Viettel's network capabilities, ensuring rapid and stable 5G deployment and providing high-speed connectivity experiences for customers nationwide.

Ericsson and Viettel will collaborate to develop innovative 5G applications and build an ecosystem for application developers.

Viettel is also ready to reallocate existing frequencies to New Radio (NR) technology, thereby sharing the 2600 MHz band for 4G and 5G NSA (non-standalone) networks. At the same time, it has outlined plans for the future deployment of 5G SA (standalone) networks, opening up opportunities for the development and provision of new services.

Furthermore, Ericsson and Viettel have signed a memorandum of understanding to promote the deployment of 5G in Vietnam. The two parties will cooperate in developing innovative 5G applications and building an ecosystem for application developers in Vietnam, aiming to create advanced, secure, and reliable solutions based on 5G technology.

Ericsson and Viettel will focus on key areas of cooperation such as 5G network slicing to provide specialized connections, supporting developers through sharing network APIs and knowledge of advanced technologies. This initiative will not only accelerate the commercialization of 5G in Vietnam but also contribute to national economic growth by leveraging the potential of Industry 4.0 applications.
