Binh Da Festival 2026
The Binh Da Festival 2026 will be held over three days (from April 20th to 22nd, 2026, which is the 4th to 6th day of the third lunar month) at the Noi Binh Da communal house historical site (Binh Minh commune) and several related locations in the area.
The Binh Da Spring Festival 2026, themed "The Spirit of Lac Hong - Convergence and Dissemination," is elaborately and solemnly staged, combining traditional rituals and modern art. The program will recreate the legend of Lac Long Quan and Au Co, honoring the nation's origins, with the participation of professional artists and the general public.
Within the framework of the festival, many unique cultural and artistic activities will be organized, such as: dragon dance performances, hot air balloon festivals, ornamental plant exhibitions, drum festivals, etc. The highlight of the ceremonial part is the traditional rituals, such as offering the Holy Bread according to ancient customs, the ceremony of worshiping the National Ancestor, along with symbolic cultural activities such as sand painting on the theme "Descendants of the Dragon and the Immortal," and the presentation of the "Descendants of Lac and Hong" emblem.
With its unique historical, cultural, and religious values associated with the Noi communal house, the Binh Da Festival was inscribed as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage on April 1, 2014 – the first festival in Hanoi to be honored at this level. In particular, the bas-relief (or statue base) at the Noi communal house, depicting the image of the National Ancestor Lac Long Quan along with his generals and attendants, vividly recreating life during the Hung King era, was recognized as a National Treasure by the Prime Minister in 2015.
In 2026, the festival will continue to be held on a large scale, featuring a variety of activities that harmoniously blend tradition and modernity. The Week of Ancestral Culture will take place from April 13th to 19th, 2026. The opening ceremony will be held on April 19th (the 3rd day of the 3rd lunar month), marking the beginning of the main festival events lasting for three days.
