Phu Day Festival 2026

The Phu Day Festival 2026 will take place from April 19th to 24th (corresponding to the 3rd to 8th day of the 3rd lunar month of the Year of the Horse) at the Phu Day historical complex, Vu Ban commune, Ninh Binh province.

The festival will officially open on the evening of April 19th at Kim Thai Stadium. Prior to that, on the morning of the same day, there will be incense offerings and folk cultural and sports activities at the temples, shrines, pagodas, and mausoleums belonging to the Phu Day historical complex.

In the following days, many unique activities will be organized, such as a folk singing festival, traditional games like tug-of-war, stick pushing, duck catching, human chess competition, procession of the scriptures, torch procession, and traditional rituals deeply rooted in the cultural and religious beliefs of the Mother Goddess worship.

Notably, two highlight ceremonies, the calligraphy pulling ritual, will be held on April 23rd and 24th at Van Cat and Tien Huong temples, featuring characters with spiritual significance such as "Mother of the World" and "National Peace and Prosperity," attracting considerable attention from locals and tourists.

In addition, authorities will strengthen inspections and controls of business and service activities; prevent soliciting, price gouging, and the sale of counterfeit and substandard goods; and strictly handle acts of exploiting the festival for personal gain, ensuring a civilized and healthy festival environment.

The highlight of the festival is the rich series of activities, combining traditional rituals with folk cultural and sporting activities, aimed at preserving and promoting the unique intangible cultural heritage of the Red River Delta region.

The Phu Day Festival in 2026 is expected to continue to be an attractive cultural and spiritual destination, contributing to promoting the image of the historically rich Vu Ban region, while also creating momentum to boost local tourism and economic development.
