Temple of Literature Festival 2026

The 2026 Van Mieu Festival will be held from March 24th to 26th (corresponding to the 6th to 8th days of the 2nd lunar month) in Thanh Sen ward (Ha Tinh province). Within this unique cultural setting, the festival will feature a variety of activities, connecting tradition and modernity, becoming a meeting point for culture, art, and knowledge.

The Van Mieu Festival is held annually to honor scholarship, express gratitude to talented individuals, and promote traditional cultural values, spreading the spirit of learning among the people of Thanh Sen in particular and Ha Tinh in general.

By performing rituals such as offering incense and paying respects, we express our deep reverence and gratitude to our ancestors and cultural figures.

Following that, the festival featured traditional folk games such as card games, arm wrestling, sack racing, etc., attracting the attention of the local people. The festival space was further enhanced by a Book, Newspaper, and Photo Fair organized by the People's Committee of Thanh Sen Ward and the Ha Tinh Journalists Association, displaying over 500 books, newspapers, and magazines about local culture and cultural figures of Ha Tinh. In addition, the festival also had stalls showcasing local specialties and OCOP products.

Set within a culturally rich and distinctive space, the Van Mieu Festival includes the following main activities: a welcoming art performance on the evening of March 24th (the evening of the 6th day of the 2nd lunar month); a procession and offering to the ancestors and famous figures on the morning of March 25th (the 7th day of the 2nd lunar month); processions and offerings by clans and the people; and the closing ceremony and awarding of prizes for sports and folk games.

The festival includes: a calligraphy exhibition, a spring book and newspaper fair, folk games, prize-winning games, a food fair, sightseeing... The procession and ceremony honoring the ancestors and famous figures will officially take place on the morning of March 25th (the 7th day of the 2nd lunar month).
