Vietnam-Sweden Children's Film Week
The Vietnam-Sweden Children's Film Week, running from June 1st to 5th, features classic Swedish films alongside outstanding Vietnamese animated films. The program showcases three recently restored Swedish films: "Pippi Longstocking and the Seven Oceans," "The Lion Brothers," and "Ronja, the Robber's Daughter"; along with 11 Vietnamese animated films: "Serves the Fox Right" (1960), "The Story of Giong" (1970), "The Kitten" (1965), "The Toad and the Frog" (1993), "The Miracle of Resurrection" (1995), and works from 2024 such as "The Spoiled Feather," "Neighbors," "The Caterpillar Turns into a Butterfly," and "The Warm Lamp."
The Vietnam-Sweden Children's Film Week is organized by the Vietnam Film Institute in collaboration with the Swedish Embassy in Vietnam, with the support of Kim Dong Publishing House.
To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the first release of the "Pippi Longstocking" series, the publisher has introduced to Vietnamese readers four illustrated picture books featuring vibrant colors and the classic Pippi character, created by artist Ingrid Vang Nyman.
"The picture books make the stories of Pippi even more engaging and captivating for young readers. Hopefully, through this program, children will get to meet Pippi not only on the pages of the books but also in a more vivid way through the movie," said Ms. Vu Thi Quynh Lien.
This year, for Children's Day (June 1st), the "Weekend Reading Corner" series of events will also feature many interesting programs every Saturday morning, with the participation of children's author Doan Lu Thuy Phuong (June 6th), author Le Anh Vinh (June 13th), author Luu Tuan Anh (June 20th), etc.
