The station was built between 1932 and 1938, located on the Thap Cham - Da Lat railway line, connecting the highland city with Phan Rang ( Ninh Thuan ). Da Lat station was designed by two French architects: Moncet and Reveron.
The railway line, 84 km long and with an elevation of 1,500 m (above sea level), began construction in 1908 and was completed in 1932. The entire line has 12 stations and 5 tunnels. This is a unique railway line because 16 km of it is a rack railway designed to climb steep inclines (with an average gradient of 12 degrees). In 1972, the railway was destroyed by war. In 2001, Da Lat station was recognized as a "National Historical Monument". Currently, Da Lat station is a popular tourist destination. The station maintains one train with one locomotive and four carriages, running from Da Lat station to Trai Mat station (7 km from the center of Da Lat, taking 25 minutes). Tourists traveling along this route can enjoy the picturesque and romantic scenery of the Da Lat suburbs. This is a place that tourists should visit at least once when they come to Da Lat to enjoy and experience.
