At Stamford Bridge, Chelsea controlled the game for much of the first half against Manchester United, but that dominance was rendered meaningless by a single moment of lapse in concentration from Alejandro Garnacho.
Despite the home team having more possession and creating numerous clear-cut chances, Chelsea failed to capitalize on them. While still regretting their missed opportunities, they were unexpectedly hit with a cold counter-attack from MU right before halftime.
The situation arose from a skillful move by Bryan Mbeumo. He chipped the ball over the right wing, creating space for Bruno Fernandes to run onto.
Garnacho immediately dropped back to help with defensive duties and had a chance to stop his former Manchester United teammate. However, the Argentinian player was easily beaten by Bruno with just a simple dribble.
When Chelsea's defense was breached at that point, Bruno immediately crossed the ball into the center. Benjamin Sesko moved to draw defenders away, creating space for Matheus Cunha to run in and finish with a one-touch shot, beating goalkeeper Sanchez.

Commentator Ally McCoist argued that Bruno Fernandes beat Garnacho too easily in the decisive moment. Meanwhile, journalist Laurie Whitwell of The Athletic sarcastically remarked that Garnacho had "a different kind of assist" for Manchester United.
Besides that incident, Garnacho also had a poor performance throughout the match against Manchester United. One of those disappointing moments came during a corner kick challenge with Diogo Dalot, where Garnacho fell to the ground and quickly lost control of the ball to his former teammate.
Even fans widely shared the clip of Casemiro easily dispossessing Garnacho. On social media platforms, Garnacho's performance quickly became a joke among many fans, with most saying the young Argentinian talent was no different from an apprentice player.
