The metals market experienced a volatile week, with the focus on the Federal Reserve's interest rate cut. For precious metals, silver rose for the second consecutive week, gaining 1.39% to $31.50 per ounce, its highest level in over two months. Conversely, platinum reversed its near-two-month high, losing 2.47% of its value, closing the week at $981.90 per ounce.
The Fed's decision to drastically cut interest rates was considered "dovish" by experts and an optimistic start to the monetary easing campaign. Precious metal prices, which are sensitive to interest rate fluctuations, were also expected to benefit from this move. However, silver and platinum prices subsequently moved in opposite directions, reflecting investors' continued caution in assessing the policy's impact on prices. Nevertheless, experts say the outlook for precious metal prices remains bullish, at least in the short term.
