There will be relatively many scores of 7.
According to Ms. Pham Ha Thanh, a teacher at Le Quy Don High School in Ha Dong, Hanoi , this year's literature exam covered a rather broad topic, but was relatively easy to write about, especially the social commentary section.
Overall, with this exam, a relatively large number of papers will score 7. In fact, the scores could be higher. This depends on the flexibility of the answer choices. When evaluating questions requiring students to write reflections on love for their homeland, examiners need to be flexible. If the answer choices are too detailed, and examiners are forced to compare the student's work to the answer key, the student's work will likely not receive a high score.

For example, in question 2 of the writing section, candidates can develop their answers in many different ways. Some might describe expressions of love for their homeland, while others might emphasize the spirit of dedication, the awareness of building or protecting the country…
During the writing process, some students might focus on a particular idea rather than covering all aspects. So, how will the grading be structured? Will high marks be awarded only to students whose essays are highly comprehensive, while those who write well but only delve into one aspect will not receive high marks, or will all students receive high marks? Therefore, the final exam scores for Literature will depend on the Ministry of Education and Training's answer key.
On the other hand, the exam limits essay length to 600 words, and with such a broad topic, candidates will generally write longer essays. Will examiners be allowed to be lenient with longer but better essays, or will they have to strictly adhere to the 600-word requirement?
The differentiation in this essay will mainly be shown in question 2 of the writing section (social commentary). Whether a candidate scores significantly higher than others will depend on the depth of their discussion and the solidity of their arguments in this question. However, this question is quite dependent on the quality of the grading. As for the reading comprehension section and question 1 of the writing section, most candidates will perform similarly well.
Or from the selection of corpus
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hao, also from Le Quy Don High School in Ha Dong, said he was very pleased with this year's literature exam: "This is truly a great exam, touching on many aspects of teaching and learning literature: love for one's homeland, friendship, and camaraderie."
According to Mr. Hao, the question was excellent because of the choice of source material. It was an excerpt from the short story "Different Skies" by writer Nguyen Minh Chau, about the friendship between two soldiers, one from the city (Hanoi), and the other from the countryside ( Nghe An ). Therefore, it would easily resonate with students from both cities and rural areas; the common ground between them, as well as the two characters in the short story, is love for their country.
The questions were all excellent. For example, the literary essay question guided candidates from the friendship between two specific soldiers to broader emotions such as camaraderie and love for their homeland. This was a meaningful emotional experience for candidates at this time, as the country had just celebrated the 50th anniversary of national reunification and was looking forward to the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution.
Or question 5, in the reading comprehension section, is also a good question. It might seem like just a grammar question, but it actually evokes beautiful emotions in the candidates, still within the theme of love for one's homeland. This question, along with the social commentary question, is designed to differentiate candidates.
"This year's literature exam is very commendable. It's an exam that makes students very interested in doing it," said Mr. Hao.
