Aspiration to contribute
Having started working at the A Lưới District Youth Union in 2017, Ms. Lê Thị Lệ Thủy, Deputy Secretary of the District Youth Union, will begin her new job in A Lưới 2 commune (formed by the merger of A Lưới town, Hồng Bắc, Quảng Nhâm, and A Ngo communes) from July 1st as the Secretary of the Commune Youth Union. Despite the new position and environment, Ms. Thủy believes that with her extensive experience in youth union work, she will be able to utilize her strengths effectively at the grassroots level.
“Establishing a two-tiered local government is a major revolution in the political system. Not only I, but all the youth union members in A Lưới are very supportive. Continuing to be involved with the youth union is an honor and a source of pride; at the same time, it is a responsibility for me. Hopefully, with the experience I have, and the support of fellow union officials and members, the A Lưới 2 Youth Union will have many activities worthy of the expectations of the government and the people,” shared Ms. Le Thi Le Thuy.
Deputy Secretary of the Phu Xuan District Youth Union, Le Vu Dam, has been involved in youth union work and youth movements for 11 years. Now, he continues his dedication by taking on the position of Secretary of the Kim Long Ward Youth Union (formed by the merger of Long Ho, Huong Long, and Kim Long wards). “Regardless of the position, I always strive to dedicate myself fully to my work. With the support and favorable conditions provided by the Kim Long Ward Party Committee, I aim to further promote the youth union movement in the locality, aiming to replicate successful and effective models and methods to attract a large number of youth union members and young people to participate.”
According to information from the Hue City Youth Union, in addition to some district-level Youth Union officials who have matured and been assigned to other positions, there are still 7 officials assigned to the position of Secretary of the Youth Union in communes and wards after the reorganization of commune-level administrative units. These will be the core force, possessing the capacity and experience to continue promoting the Youth Union movement in their localities. With 40 commune-level administrative units established in Hue City from July 1st, the position of Secretary of the Youth Union will be filled by local authorities using personnel from the former commune-level Youth Union officials.
Ensure smooth operation.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hoai, Secretary of the Hue City Youth Union and President of the Vietnam Youth Union in Hue City, said: "I have also visited and encouraged Youth Union officials currently working in 9 districts, towns, and cities to understand the thoughts and aspirations of the Youth Union officials in the context of reorganizing the administrative apparatus and implementing the merger policy as directed by the Central Government and the city."
Through meetings and discussions, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hoai noted many sincere sharing from grassroots Youth Union officials about the advantages and difficulties in their work; and their expectations regarding changes in organization and positions. In particular, questions related to staffing levels, job placement after mergers, support policies for non-specialized Youth Union officials; the desire for specific guidance on how the Youth Union organization will operate after the merger; training and development for grassroots Youth Union officials in advising and organizing tasks in the new situation; and support in connecting resources to organize activities…
The Secretary of the Hue City Youth Union acknowledged the efforts and proactive adaptation of the Youth Union's staff during the transition period. He also requested that grassroots Youth Union organizations continue to uphold their sense of responsibility in carrying out their tasks; complete the handover of documents and archiving; ensure the timely transfer of summer activities and the reception of members temporarily transferring their Youth Union membership in the locality; and maintain the effectiveness of the Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign and the Green Sunday activities.
According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hoai, this is an opportunity to grasp the reality of the situation at the grassroots level, demonstrating the concern and support of the Standing Committee of the City Youth Union for the team of Youth Union officials throughout the city – the “pieces” that contribute to completing the “picture” of Youth Union work and the youth movement. “Youth Union officials are the pioneering force; the more challenging the circumstances, the more they need courage, responsibility, and a desire to contribute. Each individual needs to continue to promote their pioneering role, maintain the flame of enthusiasm, and accompany the Youth Union organization in the process of innovation and development,” shared City Youth Union Secretary Nguyen Thanh Hoai.
