Keep spring peaceful.

During the sacred moment of transition from the old year to the new, when the sounds of joyful reunions fill the air, there are still officers and soldiers silently standing guard on the front lines, ensuring that the people's spring remains peaceful and undisturbed.

Following the merger, An Giang has a larger area, a larger population, and an even more important strategic location for national defense and security. Last year, despite many difficulties, the province maintained positive growth; political security, order, and social safety were upheld. Behind these achievements are thousands of shifts and sleepless nights of patrols by the police, army, and border guards throughout the province.

Entering the peak period of ensuring security and safety before, during, and after the Lunar New Year of the Horse in 2026, the forces proactively developed and implemented plans; strictly maintaining the combat readiness, duty officer, and command duty regimes. At key targets, areas with complex security and order issues, and along the long, remote border roads, the green uniforms of soldiers regularly appeared at night, promptly detecting and handling situations, preventing any passive or unexpected events.

In Tan Hoi commune, in the days leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year), police officers and soldiers intensified their efforts to check the population, thoroughly understand the area, and go door-to-door to promptly detect and handle any problematic situations. Any nascent cockfighting or gambling dens were promptly dismantled, preventing the emergence of hotspots and maintaining security and order at the grassroots level. Serving the people was a priority. Major Pham Huu Chien, Deputy Head of Tan Hoi Commune Police, said: “We organized mobile citizen ID card services for the elderly, the infirm, and the disabled, serving nearly 40 cases. The paperwork and procedures were completed before Tet so that people could enjoy the spring festivities with peace of mind. Whether it's a holiday or a day off, serving the people is always our top priority.”

Efforts to mediate conflicts among the people have also been strengthened. Lieutenant Colonel Huynh Dung Sy, Head of Tan Hoi Commune Police, said that the force closely monitors the area, proactively meeting with and persuading families involved in land disputes, business conflicts, and daily life issues. Many cases were successfully resolved before the New Year, contributing to strengthening community bonds and reducing the occurrence of law violations during Tet.

As one of the officers on duty throughout the Tet holiday, Senior Lieutenant Vo Minh Dong - Assistant for Mass Mobilization Affairs, Political Department (Provincial Military Command) expressed: "We strictly maintain the combat readiness duty regime; proactively handle all situations; closely coordinate with other forces, ensuring that the people can enjoy the spring and celebrate Tet safely."

Encouraging officers and soldiers on duty during Tet, Major General Nguyen Van Ngành - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Commander of the Provincial Military Command - emphasized: "For the peace and security of the people, all forces must continue to maintain a high level of vigilance, strengthen coordination between the army, police, and border guards; effectively combat all types of crime, smuggling, commercial fraud, and illegal entry and exit; and firmly uphold national sovereignty and border security."

On New Year's Eve, at border checkpoints, commune police stations, or military barracks, shifts continue. Some officers take the opportunity to call their families to wish them a Happy New Year before returning to their posts. Many others set aside personal joys to fulfill their duties. The Spring of the Year of the Horse brings with it new faith and hope. Amidst the springtime atmosphere, these silent shifts throughout the Tet holiday continue, contributing to maintaining peace and security, so that every citizen can welcome the new year safely, warmly, and with love.
