Enthusiastically getting back into the swing of things at work.
According to the Industrial Zone Trade Union Committee of the City Federation of Labor, the first four businesses resumed operations on February 20th (the 4th day of the first lunar month). After a week, over 95% of businesses in the industrial zone had restarted production. The remaining units are operating sporadically and will be fully stable by March 2nd (the 14th day of the first lunar month) at the latest. Workers who have not yet returned to work are mainly on annual leave, sick leave, maternity leave, family matters, or are migrant workers requesting additional leave.
At Tinh Loi Garment Co., Ltd. (Lai Vu Industrial Park), from the morning of February 23rd (the 7th day of the first lunar month), 94% of the workforce returned to work after the Tet holiday, higher than during the Tet holiday of 2015 (93%). The atmosphere in the workshops was lively, with laughter, conversations, and New Year greetings blending with the rhythmic operation of the machines.
To create a positive start to the year, the company's labor union organized a lucky draw with over 2,900 prizes such as rice cookers, electric kettles, thermos flasks, etc., totaling approximately 800 million VND. Factory leaders also personally wished workers a Happy New Year and gave them lucky money ranging from 20,000 to 200,000 VND per person, contributing to boosting morale and encouraging competition from the very first day of work.
Mr. Pham Dinh Hoa, Chairman of the company's Trade Union, said that with over 4,700 migrant workers, this Tet holiday, the company and the grassroots trade union allocated nearly 1.5 billion VND to support bus tickets, ranging from 200,000 to 500,000 VND per ticket depending on the distance, with the City Federation of Labor contributing over 1,200 tickets. The company also arranged for migrant workers to take two days off earlier to have more time to return home for family reunions.
At Yazaki Hai Phong Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Hai Phong Japanese Industrial Park), the attendance rate for the first day of work reached over 97%, with the remainder taking leave due to family matters. Mr. Nguyen Quoc Viet, Chairman of the company's Trade Union, stated that the company maintains a policy of awarding bonuses in two installments: a pre-Tet bonus of approximately 160% of monthly salary and a post-Tet bonus of 20-40% of monthly salary, including allowances. This approach contributes to labor stability and encourages employees to return to work on schedule.
According to Ms. Do Thi Thu Phuong, Chairwoman of the Trade Union of Bao Long Shoe Co., Ltd. (Quynh Phuc Industrial Cluster, Phu Thai Commune), the company applies a policy of returning annual leave after Tet; at the same time, it provides a transportation allowance of 150,000 - 300,000 VND for each employee returning to work.

Trade unions work together, businesses show concern.
The role of trade unions in supporting workers continues to be clearly demonstrated. Local trade unions have coordinated with businesses to review and adjust wages and internal welfare policies to suit the actual situation. At the beginning of this year, 88% of businesses in industrial zones in Hai Phong implemented wage increases, with an average increase of 390,000 VND per person (equivalent to 6.8%). 100% of businesses paid Tet bonuses to employees, with an average bonus of 1.31 months' salary. Payments were made flexibly, with approximately 75% of businesses completing bonuses before Tet; 25% of businesses made partial advances before Tet and paid the remainder after the holiday to stabilize the workforce upon their return to work.
After the Lunar New Year, businesses organize many activities to motivate employees and stabilize production and business operations. Specifically, 64.4% of businesses give employees lucky money with an average amount of 181,000 VND per person; 21.3% of businesses organize New Year's gatherings; the remaining activities include lucky draws, launching emulation campaigns, tree planting, organizing cultural and sports events, etc.
Ms. Pham Thi Thuong, a worker at Toyoda Gosei Hai Phong Co., Ltd. (Hai Phong Japanese Industrial Park), said that receiving gifts from the Hai Phong City Federation of Labor this Tet holiday made her feel very warm. She hopes that in 2026 the company will have many orders to ensure stable income, and that the union will continue to support and protect the rights of its members and workers.
According to Nguyen Van Quyet, Standing Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Federation of Labor, during the Lunar New Year holiday of the Year of the Horse, 68 businesses across the city arranged for 8,375 workers to work to ensure production progress, concentrated in the following companies: LG Displays (approximately 4,000 workers), LG Electronics (769 workers), Toyo Denso (approximately 600 workers), Shin-Etsu (approximately 450 workers), Hilex (400 workers), etc.
On February 24th and 25th, leaders of the City Labor Union visited, extended New Year greetings, and presented 200 gifts to encourage workers who continued working during the Tet holiday at 7 units and enterprises.
The support and care of Hai Phong's trade unions at all levels, along with the responsible spirit of businesses, are considered important and long-term solutions to stabilize the workforce in the context of increasingly fierce labor competition. This contributes to creating a solid foundation for Hai Phong to continue maintaining its industrial growth, ensuring social security, and aiming for sustainable development and the well-being of its workers.
