Historically, buying an expensive Android game has been a gamble. Users often worry about spending money only to receive a product they don't like, or having to rely on the little-known 2-hour money-back guarantee. However, Google is about to remove this barrier.
The 'Try before you buy' feature on Google Play has been revealed.
Tech experts have just discovered interesting code hidden in Google Play Store version v49.6.19-29. According to this, Google is testing a feature called 'Try before you buy'.

Google is about to offer pre-purchase demos of games.

Unlike traditional demos (which are often feature-reduced and a separate application), this new feature allows users to download and play the full version of the game for a limited time (e.g., 30 minutes, 1 hour, or customized by the developer).
The code snippets found stated: "Get the full game for {trialDuration} hours free" and "Time starts counting when you open the game".
Furthermore, there's a significant advantage of 'Try before you buy' over playing a demo. According to leaked data, if users are satisfied after the trial period and decide to purchase the game, their entire progress will be preserved. The system notification clearly states: "Continue from where you left off if you decide to purchase." This completely solves the current inconvenience, where players often have to start over from the beginning if they switch from a demo to the official version.
This move by Google is considered a wise step.
- For users : Eliminates the psychological barrier of fearing spending money, making it easier to access high-quality (Premium) games instead of free games that are full of ads (IAP).
- For developers : No need to spend time and effort building and maintaining a separate demo. At the same time, this feature makes their product more accessible to potential customers.
Currently, this feature is still in hidden source code and has not been officially announced by Google. However, its appearance signals a more vibrant future for the paid gaming market on Android.
