Kinhtedothi - On the evening of February 16th, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor held its first awards ceremony in 2025 to honor 95 outstanding workers who are members of the Communist Party of Vietnam .
Attending the program were Politburo member and Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man; Politburo member, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, and Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Van Chien; and Central Committee member and Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang.
Attending the program were members of the Central Committee of the Party, alternate members of the Central Committee of the Party, leaders of central departments, ministries, and organizations, as well as leaders of some localities. Representing Hanoi City was the Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Nguyen Van Phong.
Notably, the program was attended by 95 exemplary workers who are members of the Communist Party of Vietnam, selected and honored by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL).
In his opening remarks, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Nguyen Dinh Khang, stated that the first conference honoring 95 exemplary workers who are members of the Communist Party of Vietnam in 2025, themed "Shining Examples of Pioneering Workers," is a practical activity to celebrate 95 years of the Party's companionship with the nation; affirming the role and responsibility of the working class and the Vietnam Trade Union in participating in Party building, remaining steadfast and loyal, and firmly advancing under the glorious banner of the Party.
According to the President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, in recent years, the work of developing Party members in general and Party members among workers in particular has been concretized in the Resolutions of the Congress and the annual work tasks of trade unions at all levels. During the period 2018-2023, trade unions at all levels introduced more than 700,000 outstanding union members to the Party for consideration, training, and admission; of which, the number of outstanding union members admitted reached nearly 400,000 (an increase of 1.4 times compared to the 2013-2018 term).
In 2024 alone, the first year of implementing the Resolution of the 13th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union, trade unions at all levels introduced 158,813 outstanding union members to the Party for consideration, training, and admission. Of these, 80,327 outstanding union members were admitted to the Party; Party members who are workers account for nearly 10%.
The first program honoring 95 exemplary workers who are members of the Communist Party of Vietnam was organized to encourage workers nationwide to strive to become Party members, to firmly believe in and advance under the glorious banner of the Party, and to promote greater attention from Party committees and organizations at all levels in leading and directing the work of developing Party members among workers.
The 95 exemplary workers who are Party members were carefully and rigorously selected through multiple rounds and levels. These Party members come from almost all industries, localities, and types of businesses. Of these, Party members working in state-owned enterprises account for 50.5%, while those in non-state enterprises account for 49.5%. They are direct production workers, dynamic, creative, with many technical innovation initiatives, noble ideals, constantly striving to improve their ethics and conduct, setting a leading example in all fields, and enjoying the trust and respect of the masses and their colleagues.
Speaking at the event, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man highly appreciated the initiative of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor in organizing this meaningful and practical activity. This affirms the responsibility of the Vietnam Trade Union organization in participating in building a clean and strong Party and political system.
At the same time, the Chairman of the National Assembly commended, congratulated, acknowledged, and highly appreciated the outstanding results achieved by the Trade Union organization, Party members, union members, and workers in the past period - especially the 95 Party members who were commended.
Entering a new stage of national development, an era of national progress, requires high-quality human resources, including a new generation of workers who are truly both politically committed and professionally competent. To meet the tasks of this new era, the Chairman of the National Assembly emphasized several key tasks that the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and its officials, members, and workers need to focus on implementing.
This involves continuing to effectively disseminate, understand, and implement the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws and regulations – especially regarding the organization and operation of trade unions and regulations related to workers. It also includes coordinating the effective implementation of policies on salary reform, pension adjustments, social insurance benefits, social security policies, social housing, and housing for low-income workers. Furthermore, it emphasizes training and development to enhance the political acumen, professional skills, and legal awareness of union members and workers.
Furthermore, trade union levels need to proactively implement solutions to improve the effectiveness of propaganda and education, creating a pool of potential Party members, training and recommending them for Party membership in general, and worker union members in particular. Developing union membership and establishing grassroots trade unions are prerequisites for building and developing Party organizations within enterprises.
At the same time, it is essential to regularly understand and listen to the thoughts and aspirations of workers, continuously innovate and improve the effectiveness of representing, caring for, and protecting the rights of workers, thereby creating trust and close ties between union members and workers with the trade union organization.
The Chairman of the National Assembly expressed his hope that the 95 exemplary individuals being honored would continue to strive, spread their experiences and innovative spirit, and become powerful communicators and sources of inspiration to encourage union members and workers to strive to become Party members.
