Oh, Ha Giang!

Việt NamViệt Nam30/08/2024

The song "Ha Giang Oi" (Oh, Ha Giang!) was composed by Quach Beem in 2018. It's the first song in his non-profit music project to create 63 songs about the 63 provinces and cities of Ha Giang. The music video for "Ha Giang Oi" was filmed in Ha Giang, featuring famous tourist destinations such as Ma Pi Leng Pass, Nho Que River, Lung Cu Flagpole, and Dong Van Stone Plateau. This is one of the songs he composed about the 63 provinces and cities of Ha Giang. Upon its release, the song unexpectedly created a huge boost for Ha Giang's tourism industry.

Vietnam.vn is pleased to present the video "Ha Giang ơi" by author Doan Dong Duc (Quach Beem). This video was filmed by the author and his team in Ha Giang, requiring 15 consecutive days of work to complete the MV on time. The author submitted this video to the "Happy Vietnam" photo and video contest, organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications .

After three years since writing "Ha Giang, Oh!", Quách Beem returned to the area. He noticed that Ha Giang was undergoing significant changes and developing rapidly. The number of domestic and international tourists visiting Ha Giang is increasing. The landmarks in Ha Giang that Quách Beem included in the song, such as Ma Pi Leng Pass, Nho Que River, Lung Cu Flagpole, and Dong Van Stone Plateau, have become extremely popular destinations. This led Quách Beem to decide to spend all his money to create a music video to introduce the land and people of Ha Giang to a wider audience.

He shared: "I wasn't born and raised in Ha Giang, but I love this northernmost region of Vietnam for its majestic scenery, honest and simple people, and unique culture. The song 'Ha Giang, Oh!' is the first in a series of 63 songs in the 'I Love Vietnam' music project that I have been, am, and will be undertaking. I composed this song to promote and spread the image of my homeland, country, and people of Vietnam to both domestic and international audiences. It's in response to the action to improve the quality and effectiveness of external information work in the new situation."

“This time, the music video for ‘Ha Giang ơi’ was revamped and invested in, from the music to the visuals. For the first time, I wanted to experience more of the real thing, so I filmed some simple, rustic footage to post on social media and share with everyone. Unexpectedly, the song was very well received by the audience. That’s why I decided to return to Ha Giang again to create a really polished, high-quality music video… to give to the audience and promote the image of Ha Giang,” said Quách Beem.

In 2024, the "Happy Vietnam" photo and video contest continued to be organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications in collaboration with the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists on the website.   https://happy.vietnam.vn is open to all Vietnamese citizens and foreigners aged 15 and above.
