Binh Dien Hydropower Reservoir will regulate from 120 to 200m3/s this afternoon, October 15.

According to the city's Meteorological and Hydrological Station, forecasts indicate that from October 19th to 24th, due to the influence of a tropical convergence zone with its axis passing through the Central region, combined with an eastward-shifting cold front and disturbances in the upper easterly wind zone, a period of heavy and widespread rainfall is likely to occur in the city's mainland area from the evening of October 19th, lasting for several consecutive days and possibly extending to the end of October 2025.

To proactively and effectively respond to heavy rainfall early and from afar, avoiding being caught off guard, the City's Civil Defense Command requests that units managing and operating irrigation and hydropower reservoirs urgently implement specific operation and regulation plans according to predicted rainfall scenarios, especially for heavy rainfall during the period from October 20-25 and the last days of October. This aims to proactively plan for rational operation, ensuring reservoir safety while contributing to flood reduction in downstream areas.

Strengthen coordination in notifying and warning about reservoir operations with the authorities and people in the downstream area, review disaster response plans, check communication systems, vehicles and equipment for rescue work. At the same time, proactively arrange forces, materials, vehicles, equipment and backup logistics, ready to respond when incidents, prolonged floods or isolation occur.

Regularly inspect, detect, and implement warning and remediation plans for areas at risk of landslides along the lake, upstream and downstream of key infrastructure projects.

The City Civil Defense Command requests that owners of hydroelectric and irrigation dams in the city implement and report to the City Civil Defense Command before October 18, 2025.

Later that day, Binh Dien Hydropower Joint Stock Company announced the regulation of the reservoir's water flow through the spillway and turbines. Accordingly, the operating flow through the spillway and turbines will be adjusted to gradually increase, avoiding sudden surges, by approximately 120 to 200 m3/s, and adjusted according to the actual inflow into the reservoir.

The adjustment to increase the water flow will begin at 2 PM on the same day. Binh Dien Hydropower Joint Stock Company requests the People's Committee of Kim Long Ward and the People's Committee of Binh Dien Commune to inform residents downstream of the company's reservoir so they can take proactive measures to prevent damage.
