Haaland wants to join Barcelona or Real Madrid. |
According to European media, a Champions League giant has reportedly made an early move to Haaland. Notably, both Barcelona and Real Madrid believe that the striker's contract includes a release clause, opening up the possibility of him moving to La Liga in the future.
At 25 years old, Haaland maintains an incredible goal-scoring record. This season, he has scored 29 goals in 37 matches. Since joining Man City from Dortmund in 2022, Haaland has scored 153 goals in 183 appearances. This achievement was enough to earn him a 9.5-year contract extension in January 2025 with a salary of approximately £875,000 per week.
In theory, the enormous financial ties with Man City make the prospect of Haaland leaving England seem unlikely. However, Haaland is reportedly willing to join Barcelona or Real Madrid if he has to leave the Etihad Stadium.
Another development that could impact Haaland's future is the personnel situation at PSG. Following the 1-3 defeat against Rennes on February 14th, Ousmane Dembele publicly criticized the entire team. The harsh reaction from coach Luis Enrique shows that there is no peace within PSG. Dembele was even substituted at halftime in the 3-2 win against Monaco in the Champions League play-off round.
With Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea reportedly in contact with PSG regarding Dembele, the Parisian club may be forced to consider adding a top-class striker if major changes occur.
However, if any club wants to lure Haaland away from Etihad, they will have to prepare an astronomical transfer fee and salary package. Currently, Man City still holds the upper hand in this deal.
