At the end of the year, when businesses are rushing to complete orders, workers are also eagerly awaiting information about their salaries and Tet bonuses after a year of hard work.

Understanding these concerns, the city's trade union branches proactively got involved early on, grasping the feelings of union members and workers, and negotiating with businesses to ensure better wages, income, and benefits during the Tet holiday.

Take the initiative and get involved early.

At Hao Han Packaging Co., Ltd. (Tan Lien Industrial Cluster, Vinh Bao Commune), Ms. Dang Thi Tuoi, a worker in the manual box gluing department, is delighted that this year the company has stable orders and more work than the workers can handle. However, the low income is still a concern for many workers.

She said that although she has worked here for more than 7 years with an income of about 7-8 million VND/month, for the past 3 years, the basic salary has remained at 5.5 million VND/month, while other businesses in the area have basic salaries of 5.7-5.9 million VND/month. "The work is mainly heavy manual labor, and most of the workers are women, so we hope to be considered for an increase in attendance allowance and allowance for strenuous work," Ms. Tươi confided.

Ms. Tuoi's wish is also the shared concern of many workers in the city's industrial zones and clusters. In the current volatile global economy , many businesses are cutting orders, affecting workers' incomes. Therefore, stabilizing wages, ensuring Tet bonuses, and improving welfare are top priorities for the trade union organization.

At Tinh Loi Garment Co., Ltd. (Lai Vu Industrial Park), which employs over 26,000 workers, the company's labor union has successfully proposed and negotiated several new policies since the beginning of September, such as: increasing the fuel allowance from 600,000 to 900,000 VND per person per month; increasing the attendance allowance from 300,000 to 500,000 VND; and increasing the bereavement allowance from 200,000 to 500,000 VND.

Pham Dinh Hoa, Chairman of the company's Trade Union, said that the Union is continuing negotiations with the company's leadership to ensure the 13th month salary and proposing a regular annual salary increase. The Union is also developing a plan to take care of employees during the Lunar New Year of the Horse, striving to maintain the same level of gifts as last year and expand the program to support disadvantaged workers.

At the same time, coordinate with businesses to implement policies to retain migrant workers returning to work after Tet, such as providing round-trip travel allowances and organizing lucky draws at the beginning of the year.

According to Do An Ninh, Chairman of the Trade Union of Fujikura Composites Hai Phong Co., Ltd. (Japan Industrial Park - Hai Phong): Surveys show that workers desire a salary increase according to the salary scale, an increase in attendance allowance from 150,000 to 250,000 VND, and an increase in meal allowance from 30,000 to 35,000 VND. The trade union fully conveys these aspirations and strives to negotiate to ensure the best possible protection of workers' rights.

According to Mac Dinh Tu, Chairman of the Trade Union of Michigan Hai Duong Co., Ltd. (Le Dai Hanh Ward), many of the union's proposals have been approved by the company since mid-2025, such as installing more cooling fans, expanding the covered parking area, and increasing the meal allowance from 17,000 to 20,000 VND.

Alongside negotiations, city-level trade unions are strengthening inspections and supervision of wage and bonus payments by businesses, preventing wage arrears or delays that cause resentment among workers.

Diverse forms of care

The Trade Union of Bridgestone Vietnam Tire Manufacturing Co., Ltd. organized a Sports Day in November 2025, attracting a large number of employees to participate.

Many grassroots trade unions pay special attention to the spiritual well-being of workers during the year-end period. Recently, Yazaki Hai Phong Vietnam Co., Ltd. organized the 2025 Sports Day with the participation of more than 1,000 employees.

The sports competitions and raffle with many valuable prizes contributed to creating a vibrant competitive atmosphere, strengthening solidarity, and maintaining a stable working environment at the enterprise. The total cost of organizing the event, funded by the company's trade union, amounted to over 500 million VND.

The lively atmosphere also spread to the sports and cultural activities of the Trade Union of Bridgestone Vietnam Tire Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (Dinh Vu Industrial Park), Iko Thompson Vietnam Company (Japan Industrial Park - Hai Phong)...

Pham Van Hung, Chairman of the Trade Union of Bridgestone Vietnam, said that the Union is striving to negotiate to maintain the same salary and bonus levels as last year. In addition to the 13th month salary, employees will receive an extra bonus of 0.2 to 0.5 months of basic salary depending on their performance ranking; the expected salary increase is 7-10%. The company's trade union is developing a plan to take care of its members during Tet (Lunar New Year), ensuring that all employees have a happy holiday.

Together with the grassroots trade unions, the City Federation of Labor also actively implemented practical care for its members, including developing a plan of activities for the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Horse with programs to give gifts, subsidies, and bus tickets for workers from distant provinces to return home for Tet.

One of the activities being implemented in December 2025 is a program to provide free cataract surgery for 500 workers and their relatives. According to Nguyen Van Phiệt, Vice Chairman of the City Labor Union, the program aims to concretize the policy of "Caring for the welfare of union members" at the end of the year, especially ensuring that workers in difficult circumstances have access to high-quality medical services.

In addition, the first Job Fair in 2025, taking place from December 5-7, is an opportunity for freelancers, final-year students, and demobilized soldiers to find suitable jobs with 16,000 vacancies from nearly 100 businesses.

Trade union levels proactively negotiate, monitor, and provide material and spiritual support to union members, contributing to building strong trust among workers, helping workers feel secure in their jobs, and strengthening harmonious and stable labor relations within enterprises.

In addition to funding from the Trade Union budget, the City Federation of Labor Unions has requested the City People's Committee to provide financial support for Tet celebrations for workers. It is expected that at the 2026 Trade Union Tet Market, the City Federation of Labor Unions will distribute electronic shopping vouchers via the Huong Cong - Hai Phong Trade Union application in quantities 1.5 to 2 times greater than in 2025.
