Hai Phong practically cares for workers' lives

At the end of the year, when businesses are rushing to complete orders, it is also the time when workers look forward to information on their salaries and Tet bonuses after a year of hard work.

Understanding that sentiment, the city's Trade Unions at all levels proactively intervened early, grasped the sentiments of union members and workers, and negotiated with businesses to better ensure wages, income, and benefits during Tet.

Take the initiative early

At Hao Han Packaging Company Ltd. (Tan Lien Industrial Park, Vinh Bao Commune), Ms. Dang Thi Tuoi, a worker in the manual box gluing department, is excited that this year, the company has stable orders and workers are not short of work. However, the low income level makes many workers worried.

She said that although she has worked here for more than 7 years with an income of about 7 - 8 million VND/month, for the past 3 years, the basic salary has remained at 5.5 million VND/month while other businesses in the area have a basic salary of 5.7 - 5.9 million VND/month. "The work is mainly manual, heavy and arduous, and most of the workers are female, so we hope to be considered for an increase in diligence allowance and heavy work allowance," Ms. Tuoi confided.

Ms. Tuoi's wish is also the common concern of many workers in industrial zones and clusters in the city. In the volatile world economic situation, many businesses have cut orders, affecting workers' income. Therefore, stabilizing wages, ensuring Tet bonuses, and improving welfare are the top concerns of the Trade Union.

At Tinh Loi Garment Company Limited (Lai Vu Industrial Park), which has more than 26,000 workers, since the beginning of September, the company's Union has proposed and successfully negotiated many new policies, such as: increasing fuel allowance from 600,000 to 900,000 VND/person/month; increasing diligence allowance from 300,000 to 500,000 VND; and funeral allowance from 200,000 to 500,000 VND.

Chairman of the company's Trade Union Pham Dinh Hoa said that the Trade Union continues to negotiate with business leaders to ensure the 13th month salary and propose annual salary increases. The Trade Union is also developing a plan to take care of the Lunar New Year, striving to maintain the same level of gifts as last year and expanding the support program for disadvantaged workers.

At the same time, coordinate with businesses to have policies to retain out-of-town workers to return to work after Tet such as supporting two-way travel expenses and organizing lucky draws at the beginning of Spring.

Chairman of the Trade Union of Fujikura Composites Hai Phong Co., Ltd. (Japanese Industrial Park - Hai Phong) Do An Ninh informed: Through the survey, workers want to increase their salary according to the salary scale and increase the attendance allowance from 150,000 to 250,000 VND, increase the meal allowance from 30,000 to 35,000 VND. The Trade Union fully conveyed the wishes and made efforts to negotiate so that the workers' rights are best guaranteed.

According to the Chairman of the Trade Union of Michigan Hai Duong Company Limited (Le Dai Hanh Ward) Mac Dinh Tu, many proposals of the trade union were approved by the enterprise from mid-2025 such as installing additional cooling fans, expanding the covered parking lot, and increasing the meal allowance from 17,000 to 20,000 VND.

Along with negotiations, the city's Trade Union at all levels has increased inspection and supervision of salary and bonus payments by businesses, preventing wage arrears and late payments that cause resentment among workers.

Diverse forms of care

Many grassroots trade unions pay special attention to the spiritual life of workers at the end of the year. Recently, Yazaki Hai Phong Vietnam Co., Ltd. organized the 2025 Sports Festival with the participation of more than 1,000 workers.

Sports competitions and lucky draws with many valuable prizes contributed to creating a vibrant competitive atmosphere, strengthening solidarity, and maintaining a stable working environment in the enterprise. The total cost of organizing the festival from the company's Union budget was up to more than 500 million VND.

The bustling atmosphere also spread to the sports and cultural activities of the Trade Union of Bridgestone Tire Manufacturing Company Limited Vietnam (Dinh Vu Industrial Park), Iko Thompson Vietnam Company (Japan - Hai Phong Industrial Park)...

Chairman of Bridgestone Vietnam Company's Trade Union Pham Van Hung said that the Trade Union is trying to negotiate to maintain the same salary and bonus level as last year. In addition to the 13th month salary, employees will receive an additional bonus of 0.2 to 0.5 months of basic salary depending on their performance ranking; the expected salary increase is 7-10%. The company's Trade Union is developing a plan to take care of union members during Tet, ensuring that all employees have Tet.

Together with the grassroots unions, the City Labor Federation also actively implemented practical care for union members, including building a plan of activities for the Lunar New Year with programs to give gifts, subsidies, and bus tickets to go home to celebrate Tet for workers from far away provinces.

One of the activities being implemented in December 2025 is a free cataract surgery program for 500 workers and their relatives. Vice President of the City Labor Federation Nguyen Van Phiet said that the program aims to concretize the policy of "Caring for the welfare of union members" at the end of the year, especially for workers in difficult circumstances to access high-quality medical services.

Along with that, the first Job Consulting Day in 2025 taking place from December 5 to 7 is an opportunity for freelance workers, final year students and demobilized soldiers to find suitable jobs with 16,000 recruitment positions of nearly 100 businesses.

Trade Unions at all levels proactively negotiate, supervise, and provide material and spiritual support to union members, contributing to creating strong confidence for workers, helping them feel secure at work, and strengthening harmonious and stable labor relations in the enterprise.

In addition to the budget from the Trade Union, the City Labor Federation proposed that the City People's Committee support the cost of taking care of workers during Tet. It is expected that at the 2026 Trade Union Tet market, the City Labor Federation will give out electronic shopping vouchers via the Huong Cong - Hai Phong Trade Union application with the number 1.5 - 2 times higher than in 2025.
