Achraf Hakimi has filed his final appeal against the rape charges.
This is seen as the final legal effort by the PSG star after the Versailles Court of Appeal upheld the charges, stating there was sufficient evidence to bring him to trial in a criminal court on charges of rape.
The case stems from an accusation made in February 2023 at Hakimi's home in France . According to the complaint, the victim stated that the defender forcibly kissed her and made inappropriate advances before the rape occurred.
After an investigation, French judicial authorities decided to maintain the prosecution, plunging Hakimi into a tense legal battle. Responding to the allegations, the Moroccan player maintained his innocence. The 1998-born star said he was eagerly awaiting the trial to have the opportunity to present the truth and clear his name. Hakimi's lawyers also attempted to refute the accusations, stating that there were many points in the case that needed clarification.
Despite off-field troubles, the PSG defender still enjoys the full trust of the Moroccan coaching staff. Ahead of the World Cup Round of 32 match against the Netherlands on June 30th, Mohamed Ouahbi confirmed that his player remains in a stable, calm state of mind and is ready to play.
