A magnificent building created through consensus.
Recently, the People's Committee of Huong Tra Ward held an inauguration and handover ceremony for the Tran Can road (Huong Tra Tay residential area). The new road was built thanks to the voluntary land donation of nearly 17,000 square meters by 88 households, valued at approximately 8.6 billion VND.
Mr. Tran Van Chinh, 70 years old, who has lived on Tran Can Street for many years, said his family donated 60 square meters of land. The road was formerly the N2-4 canal road, lacking a proper water supply, drainage, and lighting system, significantly impacting daily life, production, and traffic safety.
When the entire local political system got involved, calling on people to contribute to road construction, the whole community agreed and willingly donated land. Through two investment phases, Tran Can Street has a completely new appearance with a widened road surface, streetlights, and a complete water supply and drainage system. "We, the people, are committed to protecting the transportation infrastructure, not encroaching on the road or sidewalks, maintaining environmental hygiene, and ensuring urban landscape," Mr. Chinh said.
According to Mr. Pham The Man, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Huong Tra Ward, the Tran Can road project, spanning two phases, has a total length of 1.3 km and an investment cost of over 38.4 billion VND. Of this, the State contributed nearly 30 billion VND, with the remainder coming from contributions from 88 households. According to Mr. Pham Hoang Duc, Secretary of the Party Committee of Huong Tra Ward, when planning the two phases of the Tran Can road project, the entire political system of the ward understood the aspirations of the people, mobilized each household to contribute, and received high levels of consensus.
For the development of our homeland
Duc Bo 2 village (Tam Anh commune) is simultaneously expanding the Ong Duoc to Ben Tray bridge road (350m long), the Ong Duoc to N28 canal road (1km long), and the Ong Thuan to N2 canal road (950m long). All three rural roads are being widened from 3m to 8m.

To implement this project, Duc Bo 2 village organized a meeting to inform residents about the road construction plan and simultaneously encouraged them to donate land and structures. Twenty households donated land to expand the Ong Duoc road to Ben Tray bridge, 35 households donated land to expand the Ong Duoc road to N28 canal, and 40 households donated land to expand the Ong Thuan road to N2 canal.
Voluntarily donating 600 square meters of land and demolishing his fence and gate to open the Ong Duoc road to the N28 canal, Mr. Nguyen Tan Hung (Duc Bo 2 village) said: “When the government had a plan to expand roads, my family immediately agreed. Wider roads make travel and business easier, and the lives of the people will be improved. The benefit to the community and the development of our homeland is invaluable, and I didn't hesitate.”
Mr. Tran Sy Nam, Head of Duc Bo 2 village, said that in recent days, the people of Duc Bo 2 village have been very excited and hopeful that the transportation projects will facilitate trade, contribute to socio-economic development, especially connecting to develop eco-tourism with neighboring communes. "Once we have the consensus and unity of the people, building a model new rural village and developing our homeland will have a good foundation and basis for implementation," Mr. Nam said.
According to Mr. Tran Van Truong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tam Anh commune, the locality is continuing to implement the new rural development program in conjunction with urban development. The voluntary donation of land, structures, and labor by the people to expand roads is highly commendable. This is a valuable source of motivation for the government and people to work together to unlock strengths and potential, and promote socio-economic development.
