At the So Ri checkpoint on the Cot Dien mountain climbing route ( Ba Den Mountain , Tay Ninh province), hundreds of tourists from many places gathered early in the morning to register their information before beginning their journey to conquer the "roof of Southern Vietnam".

The atmosphere at the starting point was bustling, with crowds at times creating localized congestion.

Tourists register their information at the So Ri checkpoint before beginning their journey to conquer Mount Ba Den.

Ba Den Mountain is an extinct volcano, 986 meters high, consisting of three main peaks: Heo Mountain, Phung Mountain, and Ba Den Mountain, covering a total area of approximately 24 km². The area is renowned for its diverse topography, rich ecosystem, and numerous spiritual sites, making it a popular tourist destination year-round, especially during holidays.

On April 30th, the number of hikers was many times higher than on typical weekends. Many groups of tourists proactively set off early in the morning to avoid the heat and ensure their health.

Thai Bao (from Tay Ninh) said that his group arranged to meet at the foot of the mountain and set off at 6 a.m. However, even at that time, the area was already very crowded. “Because of the hot weather , everyone was advised to bring at least 2 liters of water each, prepare snacks, wear hiking shoes, and absolutely not wear sandals. Most importantly, you must register your information at the checkpoint before climbing and always remind each other to keep clean and bring trash down the mountain,” Thai Bao shared.

The young people took a commemorative photo.

Tran Nhat Hao (far left), from Tay Ninh province, said this mountain climbing trip held special significance. “I participated in the climb with the spirit of improving my health, conquering myself, and learning more about the history of this place that was once a resistance base. I also brought along some national flag-shaped lapel pins to give to others, spreading the spirit of patriotism,” Nhat Hao said.

According to Nhat Hao, a large crowd had gathered since 6 a.m. Among them were groups who had rented rooms overnight to prepare for the early climb. Along the way up the mountain, the atmosphere was vibrant with images of the national flag, red shirts with yellow stars, and revolutionary songs playing from mini speakers. Many people, even strangers, supported and encouraged each other on their journey to conquer the summit.

Climbing groups started one after another from the foot of the mountain, creating a lively atmosphere on April 30th.

According to the Management Board of Ba Den Mountain National Tourist Area, during the rainy season, the climbing area is at risk of slippery surfaces and landslides, affecting the safety of tourists. Therefore, the Electric Pole route requires mandatory registration of information at the So Ri checkpoint before departure, as well as adherence to the designated route and compliance with the instructions of the patrol force.

The climbing time is regulated from 6:00 AM to 11:00 AM each day. After this time, visitors are not allowed to start to avoid the risk of getting stranded in the dark. The management also strictly prohibits the use of fire and does not allow overnight camping in the mountainous forest area.

Additionally, children under 12 years old and individuals with a history of cardiovascular disease are not permitted to participate in mountain climbing. Visitors are advised to be fully prepared, wear protective gear, monitor the weather, and stop their journey immediately in the event of heavy rain, thunderstorms, or lightning to ensure safety.
