Nunez could leave Liverpool. |
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Napoli are targeting Liverpool's Darwin Nunez and Federico Chiesa. Multiple sources claim the club is close to signing the two Liverpool stars.
Coach Antonio Conte wants to strengthen his squad after winning the Scudetto. The Napoli management also supports Conte's plans in the transfer market, which include recruiting a new striker and a new winger.
La Repubblica reports that Conte is particularly fond of Nunez, and negotiations for the transfer between Napoli and Liverpool have begun. Napoli's record for player purchases is held by Victor Osimhen, who was brought in from Lille in the summer of 2021 for €78 million.
Napoli are willing to pay a similar, or even higher, price to Liverpool for Nunez. Liverpool are also willing to sell the player if they receive a reasonable offer. The Uruguayan striker was bought by Liverpool from Benfica for over 85 million euros, and the Merseyside club have no intention of selling him for less than 80 million euros.
Nunez's contract at Anfield runs until June 2028. However, with only 7 goals and 7 assists in 47 appearances this season, Nunez's performance has not lived up to expectations.
