Support members to develop the economy

Mrs. Quynh's Nem Chua Cooperative won the Prospective Award in the 2025 "Startup Product Ideas" contest organized by the Provincial Women's Union.

Ms. Le Thi Chau in Lang Chanh town started her career in producing fermented pork rolls under the brand name "Mrs. Quynh's fermented pork rolls". Ms. Chau shared: "This is a traditional product of her family. The ingredients are carefully selected, processed cleanly, ensuring food safety procedures and has been certified as a 3-star OCOP product". From her family's production facility, Mrs. Quynh's fermented pork rolls have been supported by the Women's Union at a higher level to establish a cooperative group to produce fermented pork rolls for Mrs. Quynh, with Ms. Tran Thi Quyen - Mrs. Quynh's daughter as the owner of the production facility. Ms. Chau (Mrs. Quynh's daughter-in-law) is the representative of the cooperative group to participate in the "Startup Ideas and Products" contest in 2025 organized by the Provincial Women's Union and won the Promising prize. This is a family economic model developed from a traditional profession, creating jobs for many workers. The Women's Union of the town and the Women's Union of the district have connected the cooperative to participate in competitions to promote the brand and were awarded 5 million VND by the Provincial Women's Union to develop designs, labels...; participate in training courses on food safety, business start-up...

Supporting members and women in economic development and starting a business is one of the key tasks of the association that the Lang Chanh District Women's Union focuses on. Right from the beginning of the year, the District Women's Union directed the Women's Unions of communes and towns to conduct surveys of poor and near-poor households in the unit, thereby mobilizing members to register to escape poverty and send the registration list to the district for monitoring and directing the assignment of units to register for assistance. To increase women's economic power, the association directed the grassroots to review individual households and collective groups with the ability to start a business to support start-ups to develop production; coordinate with banks and credit institutions to support members in borrowing capital to develop production. At the same time, support the construction of collective economic models led by women; mobilize members to actively change the structure of crops and livestock; coordinate with specialized departments and offices to open training courses to transfer scientific and technical advances in cultivation, animal husbandry, business, etc. to households.

With efforts, in recent years, many support activities to help members and women develop the economy and start businesses have become more and more in-depth, targeted, and effective. Notably, from 2024 to present, the Lang Chanh District Women's Union has connected with the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development to lend to members with a total outstanding loan balance of more than 189.1 billion VND; the District Social Policy Bank has lent more than 143.4 billion VND to hundreds of members for economic development. The Union also coordinated with microfinance institutions to participate in approving loans for more than 2,200 customers, with an outstanding loan balance of 28.2 billion VND; maintained and expanded 72 savings groups/teams of nearly 800 million VND, provided revolving loans to 192 members, helping each other develop livestock, cultivation, renovate and renew sanitation facilities, clean water... with low interest rates or no interest. Through inspection and supervision of the loan process, women's union members have used the loan for the right purposes of production and business, bringing high economic efficiency, especially in hill and forest economic models, farm animal husbandry...

Every year, the Standing Committee of the District Women's Union selects 1 member's idea to participate in the provincial "Women's Startup Product Ideas" contest to create opportunities for women to exchange, learn and promote brands, sell products; advise the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee to direct the Women's Union of 10/10 communes and towns to deploy booths to introduce and sell local specialties during major holidays of the district and commune and make payments by scanning QR codes.

In addition, the association maintains the operation of collective economic models managed by women and gives breeding animals to disadvantaged households. That is the cooperative group raising breeding cows in 3 communes of Giao Thien, Yen Khuong and Lam Phu with a total herd of nearly 170 cows. The association has organized the sharing of 7 calves for disadvantaged member families in the Hung village cooperative group, Giao Thien commune; well maintained the economic crossbred pig cooperative group in Yen Khuong commune, the model of raising sows in Cu village, Tam Van commune has reached nearly 260 pigs with 58 participating members and has organized the sharing of 10 pigs to 10 other disadvantaged members...

Ms. Le Thi Kieu, President of the Women's Union of Lang Chanh district, said: "Supporting members in economic development and starting a business is the core activity of the union. Only when women's lives are improved, will they actively participate in the activities of the union and the local women's movement. The activities of the union and the role of women are always recognized and highly appreciated by Party committees and authorities at all levels, especially in poverty reduction and new rural construction."
