Supporting members in economic development.

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - Along with building a strong women's association, the Standing Committee of the Lang Chanh District Women's Union has implemented many solutions to help its members and women develop their economy, start businesses, and build warm, happy families.

The Ba Quynh fermented pork sausage cooperative won the Promising Award in the "Startup Product Ideas" competition in 2025 organized by the Provincial Women's Union.

Ms. Le Thi Chau in Lang Chanh town started her business producing fermented pork sausage (nem chua) under the brand name "Nem chua Ba Quynh". Ms. Chau shared: "This is a traditional family product. The ingredients are carefully selected, processed cleanly, ensuring compliance with food safety procedures, and has been certified as a 3-star OCOP product." From her family's production facility, the Ba Quynh fermented pork sausage cooperative was supported by the higher-level Women's Union in establishing a cooperative. Ms. Tran Thi Quyen, Ms. Quynh's daughter, is the owner of the production facility, and Ms. Chau (Ms. Quynh's daughter-in-law) represented the cooperative in the "Startup Ideas and Products" competition in 2025 organized by the Provincial Women's Union, winning the Promising Award. This is a family economic model developed from a traditional craft, creating jobs for many workers. The Women's Union of the town and the Women's Union of the district connected the cooperative to participate in competitions to promote its brand, and the Provincial Women's Union awarded them 5 million VND to develop product designs, labels, etc.; and to participate in training courses on food safety, business startup, etc.

Supporting women members in economic development and entrepreneurship is one of the key tasks of the Lang Chanh District Women's Union. From the beginning of the year, the District Women's Union directed the Women's Unions in communes and towns to conduct surveys of poor and near-poor households in their areas. Based on these surveys, members were encouraged to register for poverty alleviation programs and submit registration lists to the district for monitoring and guidance, assigning relevant units to provide assistance. To empower women economically, the Union directed its branches to review individual households and collective groups with the potential to start businesses, providing support for entrepreneurship and production development. It also coordinated with banks and credit institutions to assist members in obtaining loans for production development. Simultaneously, it supported the development of collective economic models led by women; encouraged members to actively diversify crop and livestock structures; and collaborated with specialized departments to organize training courses on transferring advanced scientific and technical knowledge in farming, animal husbandry, and business to households.

Thanks to these efforts, in recent years, many activities supporting and assisting female members in economic development and entrepreneurship have become more in-depth, targeted, and effective. In particular, from 2024 to the present, the Lang Chanh District Women's Union has facilitated loans from the Agricultural and Rural Development Bank for its members totaling over 189.1 billion VND; and loans from the District Social Policy Bank totaling over 143.4 billion VND, benefiting hundreds of members for economic development. The Union has also collaborated with microfinance institutions to approve loans for over 2,200 customers, with outstanding loans of 28.2 billion VND; and maintained and expanded 72 savings groups/teams totaling nearly 800 million VND, providing revolving loans to 192 members to help each other develop livestock farming, crop cultivation, and improve or upgrade sanitation and clean water facilities... with low or no interest rates. Through inspection and monitoring of the loan process, women members have used the funds for the intended production and business purposes, yielding high economic efficiency, especially in hill and forest economic models and farm animal husbandry...

Every year, the Standing Committee of the District Women's Union selects one idea from a member to participate in the provincial-level "Women's Entrepreneurship Product Ideas" competition to create opportunities for women to exchange ideas, learn, promote their brands, and sell their products; and advises the District Party Committee's Standing Committee to direct the Women's Unions in all 10 communes and towns to set up booths to introduce and sell local specialty products during major district and commune holidays, and implement payment by scanning QR codes.

In addition, the association maintains the operation of collective economic models managed by women and provides livestock to disadvantaged households. These include a cattle breeding cooperative in three communes: Giao Thien, Yen Khuong, and Lam Phu, with a total herd of nearly 170 cows. The association has distributed 7 calves to disadvantaged member families in the Hung village cooperative in Giao Thien commune; it also maintains a successful hybrid pig farming cooperative in Yen Khuong commune, and a sow breeding model in Cu village, Tam Van commune, with nearly 260 sows and 58 participating members, and has distributed 10 sows to 10 other disadvantaged members...

Ms. Le Thi Kieu, President of the Women's Union of Lang Chanh District, said: "Supporting members in economic development and entrepreneurship is a key activity of the Union. Only when the lives of women are improved will they actively participate in the activities of the Union and the local women's movement. The activities of the Union and the role of women are always recognized and highly appreciated by the Party Committee and the government at all levels, especially in poverty reduction and rural development."
