Miss India passes away at age 29.

On February 28th, Republic World reported that Rinky Chakma, Miss Tripura 2017, passed away at the age of 29 after a long battle with breast cancer. Rinky was diagnosed with a malignant tumor in her breast in early 2022. After her first surgery, the cancer had metastasized to her lungs and brain.

On February 22nd, Rinky was rushed to Max Saket Hospital in India for emergency treatment because one of her lungs was almost completely non-functional. The beauty queen underwent multiple rounds of chemotherapy and had to shave her head.

The cancer metastasized to the head and a brain tumor appeared.

News of Rinky Chakma's passing was confirmed by the Miss India Femina organization on social media. "We extend our deepest condolences to her family and friends during this difficult time. Rinky Chakma was a sweet and kind woman. May her soul rest in peace," the Miss India organization stated.

A few weeks before she passed away, Rinky shared a post appealing for people to help her raise funds for her surgery.

Rinky Chakma, 29 years old, is currently a model and charity activist in India. She competed in Miss India 2017 and won two major awards: Miss Congeniality and Miss Congeniality .
