Miss International's communications director, Stephen Diaz, announced that the 64th Miss International competition will drop the swimsuit/bikini segment and replace it with a sportswear segment.
The evening gown segment remains unchanged; however, the organizers will no longer judge based solely on the gown itself. Instead, they will focus on the contestants' overall demeanor, catwalk skills, and communication and expression during the question-and-answer sessions.

Another unique aspect of this year's competition is the absence of awards for continental queens. These innovations in Miss International 2026 have attracted attention and discussion from international beauty pageant fans.
Many believe that removing the swimsuit competition and switching to sportswear encourages contestants from Muslim-majority countries to participate in Miss International. Additionally, the removal of the continental queen title is seen as reducing the formality of the title.
Furthermore, the Miss International organizers are looking to expand the SDGs Project (United Nations Goals 2030), requiring contestants to have a substantial, sustainable project when entering the competition.
However, the decision to remove the swimsuit competition has also sparked controversy on beauty pageant forums. Many argue that the absence of this segment will make the competition, already considered boring, even more tedious.
"The Miss International finals are always so drawn-out, and now without the swimsuit competition, it's lost its appeal," "The swimsuit competition is probably the most exciting part of this contest"... viewers commented.
The 64th Miss International 2026 final will be held at Tokyo Dome City Hall, Japan on November 25th. Reigning Miss International Catalina Duque from Colombia will crown her successor.
Catalina Duque Abréu, born in 1999 in Miami, USA, is a beauty of American and Colombian descent. She boasts an impressive height of 1.8 meters and a captivating, distinctly Latin beauty. She is the fourth Colombian to win the Miss International title.
On June 11th, Catalina Duque was included in the list of the top 10 most beautiful Misses in the world for 2025 by the beauty website Globalbeauties .
Miss International is one of the world's largest beauty pageants, held annually in Japan. The core theme of the competition is Love, Peace, and Beauty.
Unlike other beauty pageants that focus heavily on appearance or charitable projects, Miss International views contestants as ambassadors of peace and beauty. Contestants not only compete on beauty but also act as cultural bridges, showcasing elegance, intelligence, and compassion to unite nations.
