“ For the first two years, I taught completely free of charge. This year, however, I'm asking for a small fee, not for profit, but to encourage students to be more responsible in their studies, and also to help me cover the cost of purchasing learning materials for the class, ” Bao Ngoc shared with a maturity beyond her years.
Having excelled in her studies while also taking on the role of an inspiring teacher, Ngoc's journey is a vivid testament to the spirit of "Competing in learning and doing/Young people doing small things."
From honesty to a "small flame" that keeps the color green.
One morning last May, on Cao Lo Street (Licogi Residential Area, Hamlet 14, An Xuyen Ward), two children, Ho Minh Tue and Le Tran Thanh Nhan (both born in 2016, 4th grade students), were playing in front of their house when they suddenly discovered a dropped wad of money worth over 20 million VND. Without hesitation, the two 9-year-old children immediately ran to tell the adults and, together with their family, took the money to the ward police station to hand it over and find the owner.
Upon receiving back the money he thought was lost for family expenses, Mr. Van (the person who dropped it) choked up with emotion: “I am truly surprised and grateful. The two children are very young but honest and have such a good sense of responsibility.” On social media, a user named Thanh Nguyen expressed: “The actions of these two children show honesty instilled from a young age, a shining example that spreads community awareness and should be reflected upon by many adults.”

Besides honesty, the sense of social responsibility among children in Ca Mau is also ignited through creative environmental protection actions. Regularly every Saturday, residents at Hong Bang Park or Happy Home residential area (Tan Thanh ward) see a group of elementary school students from the "Little Flame" group picking up trash and gathering materials for recycling under the guidance of their parents.
This shift from awareness to action has also been incorporated into scientific research. At the Ca Mau Provincial Youth and Children's Innovation Competition (2025-2026), the "Small Plan ATM" model, an automated machine that exchanges waste for gifts, created by two students, Cao Nhat Duy and Phan Le Anh Khoa (Grade 9A, Le Hong Phong Secondary School, Long Dien Commune), made a strong impression. This initiative not only transforms recycled materials into meaningful learning tools but also conveys a profound message about a green future led by the students themselves, as reflected in the slogan on the "Small Plan ATM" model: "Maintaining cleanliness is a beautiful cultural aspect of public spaces."
The 2026 Message
Looking at the actions of children in Ca Mau during the 2025-2026 school year, from Bao Ngoc's foreign language classes, Minh Tue and Thanh Nhan's act of finding lost items, to the heartwarming "Spring of Love" movement in schools... we realize one thing: Children are not only recipients of education, they are also the ones who shape and spread humanistic values.
These young saplings sometimes help adults learn many useful things. (Photo taken at the Ca Mau Provincial Children's House, Tan Thanh Ward, evening of April 17, 2026).
The 2026 Action Month for Children, organized by the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, has the theme: "Happy, Safe, and Steadfast Children in the Digital Age." Amidst the flow of technology and the rapid changes of the times, protecting, caring for, and preventing violence and abuse against children is a vital task for all levels, sectors, and society as a whole.
Investing in children is investing in the future, but learning from children is also a way to build a civilized and compassionate country together with them, starting from the simplest things.
