Con Dao Book Fair is bustling with joy

On the evening of October 4, many people came to visit and enjoy the art program Poems that shape the country on the occasion of the opening of the Con Dao Book Festival.

Starting at 6:30 p.m., both sides of the road leading to the stage were lit up with torches. Themed book exhibition areas were arranged along the road for people to easily follow.

He shared with Tuoi Tre Online : "I have been working in Con Dao for 20 years now, this is the first time there has been such a big book fair. In my opinion, this book fair is very useful and should continue to be held more regularly so that our people, especially the younger generation, can understand more about the land we live on."

At the Ho Chi Minh Cultural Space, 11-year-old Minh Duc held a small book called "History of Our Country" and flipped through the pages. "I like reading and learning about Vietnamese history, so I find this book very interesting," Minh Duc said.

He emphasized: "Con Dao - a sacred island with immortal legends such as General Secretary Le Hong Phong; Patriot Nguyen An Ninh, Heroic Martyr Vo Thi Sau and thousands of revolutionary soldiers who bravely faced the enemy.

Today's book fair honors those steadfast and indomitable examples through areas displaying books about President Ho Chi Minh, the city's socio-economic achievements in the 2020-2025 term, legendary figures of Con Dao and special publications.

Activities to exchange authors and works, spread reading sessions at schools, and introduce Nguyen An Ninh Digital Library will arouse a passion for reading, especially in the young generation, contributing to perfecting personality and building new people."

Recreating history through art

After the opening ceremony, Con Dao people enjoyed the art program with the theme "Poems that shape the country" through three parts : "Vietnam's posture", "Songs of the prison cells", "Continuing the country's epic" , the program summarized the country's long journey through the resistance war against French colonialism and American imperialism.

Singer Quoc Dai opened with the song "Comrade" . Then came the tunes "Ho keo phao", "Duong len tien tien", "Hoa ho chien si Dien Bien", "Chien thang Dien Bien" by Thanh Su, Ha Van, and the VMO group.

Finally, the country was filled with joy on the day of reunification on April 30, 1975. Con Dao's chains fell off, and the steadfast prisoners burst into freedom, standing tall like victors.
