Over 1,000 runners conquered Phu Van peak.

(PLVN) - On April 19th, the 2026 Yen Tu Mountain Climbing Competition, themed "Conquering Phu Van Peak," took place at the Yen Tu National Special Historical Site (Quang Ninh province). This is a key sporting event aimed at promoting the image of Yen Tu after its recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Starting from the Sân Đình - Làng Nương area, athletes will climb a non -touristized route, with a pleasant starting point, not too steep or harsh. After traversing trails lined with bamboo forests and the sound of flowing streams day and night, athletes will be able to admire centuries-old pine trees at Yên Tử. Each pine tree is numbered for conservation and maintenance purposes.

The climbing route is heavily marked with signs and markers by the organizers, and in addition, members of the organizing committee and volunteers will support the athletes along the entire route.

Passing through Thung Pagoda, athletes will continue to Silver Waterfall and gradually follow the familiar climbing route. At One-Roof Pagoda, athletes from both distances will part ways; the 8km runners will turn right towards One-Roof Pagoda and continue the climbing path with stone steps to the Buddha Emperor Statue and Bronze Pagoda, while the 5km runners will go straight to Hoa Yen Pagoda.

The Yen Tu Mountain Climbing Competition 2026 will be organized by the People's Committee of Yen Tu Ward, the Quang Ninh Provincial Journalists Association, and other collaborating units.

The Organizing Committee awarded prizes to athletes who achieved high results in the 5km and 8km stages of the Yen Tu Mountain Climbing Race 2026 with the theme "Conquering Phu Van Peak".

The 2026 Yen Tu Mountain Climbing Competition, themed "Conquering Phu Van Peak," attracted 1,168 domestic and international athletes. The event also marked the opening of the "Yen Tu Welcomes Summer 2026" program, aiming to attract over 2.3 million tourists to Yen Tu this year.

The 5km race will return to the finish line via the familiar descent route, passing Hue Quang Kim Thap, Hanoi slope, Giai Oan Pagoda. At the foot of Giai Oan Pagoda, athletes will turn left to complete a loop around Legacy, Khai Tam Gate, and finish via the main road into Lang Nuong Village.

More than just a competition, the athletes also get to take beautiful photos while conquering their climbing routes.

The Yen Tu Mountain Climbing Race is a practical activity aimed at spreading the spirit of "All citizens practicing physical training following the example of the great President Ho Chi Minh," while also utilizing the power of sports to connect and honor heritage values.

At Hoa Yen Pagoda, the organizing committee set up a Master relay station with ample energy and nutrition for the athletes. A new feature this year is that all checkpoints have hot food available.
