This morning, April 29, Hanoi University of Science and Technology officially announced the incident of the fourth round of thinking assessment exam, scheduled for the afternoon of April 4.
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Duy Hai - Head of Admissions - Career Guidance Department, Hanoi University of Science and Technology - Standing Vice Chairman of the 2024 Thinking Assessment Examination Council, said that on April 27 and 28, the University Hanoi Polytechnic Institute continues to organize a large-scale thinking assessment test for nearly 4 candidates registered to take the exam at 14.000 test locations in 29 provinces/cities.
The exam consists of 2 test teams, morning and afternoon, of which 7.130 candidates came to take the test in the morning team out of a total of 7.231 candidates registered to take the exam. In the afternoon, 6.566 candidates came to complete exam procedures out of a total of 6.720 candidates registered to take the exam.
According to Mr. Hai, the morning exam took place successfully, all contestants' exam results were recorded on the system.
“Although some candidates made the mistake of opening the mathematical thinking test a few minutes late, it was still within the allowed time frame of the test so it would not affect the candidates' test results. ", Mr. Hai informed.
During the afternoon exam, Mr. Hai said that the technical department had discovered that the exam platform system showed signs of instability since 13:50 p.m. (40 minutes before the exam).
The exam steering committee decided to delay the exam start time by 60 minutes to recheck the system and reopened the exam entry time at 15:30 p.m.
“The mathematical thinking test took place successfully. After moving to the reading comprehension test, the system showed signs of instability again.
Data synchronization services were interrupted, candidates' assignments were not updated to the Server, leading to candidates being unable to continue completing the exam. The exam steering committee decided to stop the exam crew at 17:XNUMX p.m. on the same day.
The technical department has determined that the cause of the error is that the server resources of the exam platform system are overloaded due to a number of new functions being put into use to synthesize data to help supervisors screen and detect risks. opportunity to cheat on exams.
This function had an error and took up system resources, thereby creating a chain effect that caused the exam system to crash," Mr. Hai informed.
Mr. Hai said that the school assessed that with this system error, this was the first major incident that forced the Exam Council to decide to stop the exam team according to exam regulations.
In the next exams, the school and its technology partners commit to implementing stricter technical control to ensure that similar incidents do not occur.
More than 6.500 candidates had to retake the exam
From 1:29 a.m. on April 4, the Thinking Assessment Examination Council of Hanoi University of Science and Technology sent an email to notify all candidates participating in the exam on the afternoon of April 28 because of the above incident and offered solutions. methods for candidates to choose from to ensure their rights.
Accordingly, the Thinking Assessment Examination Council of Hanoi University of Science and Technology decided:
– Organize make-up exams for candidates who were unable to complete the exam in the exam group on the afternoon of April 28 and on May 4
– Candidates who were unable to complete the exam in the exam group on the afternoon of April 28 will be given priority to register for the exam for free in round 4 or round 5 taking place on June 6 and 8, and June 9 and 6. -15.
