According to the latest revelations from analyst Jeff Pu, who is famous for his accurate predictions about upcoming iPhone models, the standard iPhone 17 version is expected to only be equipped with the A18 processor chip and 8GB of RAM.
Mr. Pu also added that the iPhone 17 Air - the version expected to have an ultra-thin design - will have a completely new A19 chip. Meanwhile, the high-end duo iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max will be equipped with the most powerful A19 Pro chip ever.
Notably, all of these chip models will still be manufactured on TSMC's second-generation 3nm process, similar to the A18 chip on the iPhone 16.

This information reinforces previous predictions from another reputable analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo.
Last month, Mr. Kuo revealed that Apple will equip 12GB RAM for iPhone 17 Air, 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max, and consider between 8GB or 12GB for the standard version. With the latest information from Jeff Pu, it is likely that "Apple" has finalized 8GB RAM for the standard iPhone 17 version.
If these leaks are accurate, the standard iPhone 17 will likely disappoint many users as the configuration has almost no significant upgrade compared to the iPhone 16.
However, the notable highlight on this version is the screen with a 120Hz refresh rate (instead of 60Hz) and the front camera is upgraded to 24 megapixels (from 12 megapixels).
In addition, the iPhone 17 is also expected to increase the screen size to 6.3 inches, larger than the 6.1 inches of the iPhone 16. One detail that both Ming-Chi Kuo and Jeff Pu agree on is that the size of the Dynamic Island notch on the screen of the entire product line will be reduced, optimizing the display space.
If Apple's product development cycle is not affected by geopolitical factors, the iPhone 17 series is expected to officially launch this coming September.
