According to the latest revelations from analyst Jeff Pu, known for his accurate predictions of upcoming iPhone models, the standard iPhone 17 version is expected to only feature the A18 processor and 8GB of RAM.
Mr. Pu also added that the iPhone 17 Air – the version expected to have an ultra-thin design – will feature the brand-new A19 chip. Meanwhile, the high-end iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max will be equipped with the most powerful A19 Pro chip ever.
Notably, all of these chip prototypes will still be manufactured using TSMC's second-generation 3nm process, similar to the A18 chip in the iPhone 16.

This rendering illustrates four options for the iPhone 17 series, showing that the design and specifications of the standard iPhone 17 are no different from the previous iPhone 16 (Illustrative image: X).
This information further reinforces previous predictions from another reputable analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo.
Last month, Kuo revealed that Apple would equip the iPhone 17 Air, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max with 12GB of RAM, while considering either 8GB or 12GB for the standard version. With the latest information from Jeff Pu, it's highly likely that Apple has finalized the 8GB RAM option for the standard iPhone 17.
If these leaks are accurate, the standard iPhone 17 may disappoint many users as its specifications show almost no significant upgrades compared to the iPhone 16.
However, the notable highlights of this version are the 120Hz refresh rate screen (instead of 60Hz) and the upgraded 24-megapixel front camera (from 12 megapixels).
Additionally, the iPhone 17 is also expected to increase its screen size to 6.3 inches, larger than the 6.1 inches of the iPhone 16. One detail that both Ming-Chi Kuo and Jeff Pu agree on is that the size of the Dynamic Island notch on the screen of the entire product line will be reduced, optimizing display space.
If Apple's product development cycle is not affected by geopolitical factors, the iPhone 17 series is expected to officially launch this coming September.
