This product line featured a completely new and distinct design compared to the devices the company had developed over the past decade. However, the iPhone Air was not well-received by consumers.

According to data from Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP) , only 6% of US users will choose the iPhone Air in the fourth quarter of 2025. This figure is significantly lower than other models launched at the same time, such as the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max.
In fact, this isn't the first sign of sluggish iPhone Air sales. In November 2025, The Information revealed that Apple had delayed the launch of the second-generation iPhone Air after sales fell short of expectations.
According to Nikkei Asia Review , Apple has been in talks with its supply chain partners to cut iPhone Air production since last fall, while increasing orders for other phone models.
Josh Lowitz, one of the analysts at CIRP, argues that most users don't care about a phone just because of its thinness.
"Most survey participants said they bought the iPhone Air to replace an old phone, not because they wanted a thinner phone," Lowitz said.
Some analysts argue that the iPhone Air wasn't designed to be a bestseller. Instead, it was created with the goal of diversifying the product range, giving consumers more choices.

Furthermore, the design of the iPhone Air could also serve as the foundation for more advanced iPhone models, such as the foldable iPhone (iPhone Fold), which is expected to launch later this year.
However, user indifference towards the iPhone Air also raises a big question for Apple in terms of product development. For many years, the company has achieved success with its standard iPhone, iPhone Pro, and iPhone Pro Max product lines.

Vietnam encourages US businesses to expand investment in high technology. On the morning of June 26th, at the Government Headquarters, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung received Mr. Jeff Place, Supply Chain Director of Coherent Group (USA). During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam encourages US businesses to expand investment, especially in high-tech, innovation, and semiconductor industries. However, Apple has struggled to find a fourth iPhone model that truly appeals to consumers. Previously, the company has tried introducing the iPhone Mini, then the iPhone Plus. Neither achieved the expected success.
The iPhone Air continues to follow in the footsteps of the Mini and Plus product lines, failing to gain market acceptance. This is considered a difficult problem that Apple has yet to solve.
