Apple Intelligence, introduced last fall, runs on the iPhone 16, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, along with Macs and most iPads. When needing help from a different AI model, Apple Intelligence suggests users ask ChatGPT. However, in the future, Google Gemini and many other chatbots may be added to the list of options.
In the latest Power On newsletter , Mark Gurman suggests that Google Gemini could soon become Apple Intelligence's next partner, after this was announced in June 2024 but has yet to materialize.
"Although the agreement between Apple and Google hasn't been signed yet, I hope it will be finalized and announced as soon as possible at WWDC. I also believe that more partners will be involved," Mark Gurman predicted.
He predicted that Claude or Perplexity would be considered as the main large language model (LLM) integrated into Apple Intelligence, while Meta's Llama was unlikely to appear. According to Forbes , one issue to consider is how Apple allows users to use the LLM. Do they have to register from the outset, or is it selected on a query-by-query basis?
Currently, Apple Intelligence users can request ChatGPT assistance with up to 30 questions per day. The addition of new partners may change this calculation, for example, by applying a limit of 30 questions per chatbot.
It's highly likely that this will be announced in the next few weeks, when Apple reveals major changes to its operating system and software at WWDC25. The annual event is scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM on June 9th (US time).
