Alexander Isak's future at Newcastle has been a hot topic throughout the transfer window, and things have escalated beyond normal and are starting to spiral out of control.
Now, the relationship between the 25-year-old striker and the club has officially broken down as the player himself has publicly "turned on" the board of directors on social media, bluntly accusing them of breaking their promises.
“I am proud to be recognised by my peers with a place in the PFA Premier League squad for the 2024-25 season,” striker Isak began the post.

“First of all, I would like to thank my team-mates and everyone at Newcastle United who has supported me along the way. I am not at the ceremony tonight. With everything that is going on, it just doesn’t feel right to be there.
I have been silent for a long time while others have spoken. That silence has allowed people to push their own narrative, even though they know it does not reflect what has actually been said and agreed behind closed doors.
The truth is that promises were made and the club has known my views for a long time. To act now as if these issues have only just emerged is misleading.
When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship cannot continue. That's where I am right now and that's why change is best for everyone, not just me.”
Isak's final sentence surprised everyone, even though they had known about his repeated absence from training and refusal to play for Newcastle in the first round of the Premier League. Immediately after that, Newcastle also officially spoke out about the situation on social media through written words.
In the post, Newcastle confirmed their disappointment with Isak's actions and made clear their stance: "We are disappointed to have been informed of Alexander Isak's social media post. Isak remains under contract and there has been no commitment from the club that Alex can leave Newcastle United this summer."

Newcastle also said they were willing to listen to the players' wishes, but the interests of the team and fans were the top priority.
Newcastle said: "We want to keep our best players, but we also understand that players have their own wishes and Newcastle listens to their opinions. The conditions for selling players this summer have not been met."
Ultimately, Newcastle still expressed their desire to keep Isak and consider him part of the "family", but only if he agreed to return.
