Jin is the first member of BTS to complete his mandatory national service, which has led to a delay in his music career.

Jin was the first member of BTS to enlist, in December 2022. The remaining four members began their military service in December 2023. The band is expected to reunite in 2025 after all members complete their military service.

South Korea requires all healthy men aged 18-28 to serve in the military or social service for 18-21 months. However, the country amended the law in 2020, allowing globally recognized K-pop stars to defer military service until age 30.

BTS debuted on June 13, 2013, and since then has become the face of K-pop, the billion-dollar entertainment industry and also South Korea's biggest export.
