This was Fletcher's first match in charge of the "Red Devils" first team, following the club's recent departure of manager Ruben Amorim earlier in the week. Despite the 2-2 draw, the positive changes in the visiting team were evident throughout the 90 minutes of play.

Speaking before the match on MUTV , Fletcher confirmed that Manchester United employs a flexible style of play both with and without the ball. According to the former Scottish midfielder, the team needs constant movement and intelligent positional changes to exploit the spaces left open by the opponent.

However, Fletcher also emphasized that tactics are only the foundation, and execution depends entirely on the players on the field.

"I want to see flexibility in our approach to the game. We need to move, rotate positions, and take advantage of the spaces the opposition creates. But ultimately, it's the players who make the difference. We have intelligent, experienced players, and if they recognize the opportunity, I believe they have the ability to turn the game around," Fletcher shared.

In terms of personnel, Fletcher made only one change from the team that drew 1-1 against Leeds. Bruno Fernandes was recalled to the starting lineup after injury, while Leny Yoro was benched.

No longer using the three-defender formation as under Amorim, manager Fletcher decided to use a 4-2-3-1 system to bring balance. MU's back four consists of Diogo Dalot, Ayden Heaven, Lisandro Martinez, and Luke Shaw.

The most notable change came from striker Benjamin Sesko, who scored a brace against Burnley and ended his previous 11-game goalless streak.

Speaking after the match, Fletcher admitted to having a private meeting with Sesko before the Burnley clash. "Yesterday I sat down and talked to Sesko and showed him videos of my movements, how he reacts to scoring opportunities. Tonight, Sesko had a fantastic performance," Fletcher said.

According to the Daily Mail , Fletcher will continue to lead Manchester United as interim manager for their FA Cup third-round match against Brighton on the night of January 11th.
