Mongolia officially waived visa requirements for Vietnamese tourists from March 7, 2024.
On March 4th, the Mongolian government announced a list of visa-exempt countries, including Vietnam. This list officially came into effect on March 7th. Accordingly, Vietnamese citizens entering Mongolia for stays of no more than 30 days will be visa-exempt. Ms. Ho Thi Phuong, Director of Premier Tour travel company, said that the procedure for applying for a Mongolian visa is not complicated, and since the beginning of 2023, Vietnamese tourists have been able to apply for e-visas. Currently, with the new visa exemption policy, Vietnamese tourists can save more money when traveling to Mongolia. Previously, Vietnamese tourists needed to apply for a visa or e-visa, costing 25 USD plus surcharges. "Mongolian tours always hold a special place in the hearts of Vietnamese tourists, partly because of the beautiful scenery, friendly people, and interesting cultural aspects," Ms. Phuong said. Blogger Nguyen Thuy Trang believes that Mongolia is a destination Vietnamese tourists should visit in 2024. "Currently, the country offers visa-free entry and direct flights, making it very suitable for Vietnamese visitors to explore this pristine and beautiful land," she stated.

In November 2023, Vietnam and Mongolia signed a bilateral visa exemption agreement. This agreement contributes to expanding trade cooperation, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries. Since the end of 2023, the Ulaanbaatar - Nha Trang flight route has been operational, meeting the travel needs of Mongolian citizens and tourists to Nha Trang, Vietnam, and vice versa.
