On February 13th, Quang Ha town (Hai Ha district) held the opening ceremony of the Mi Son communal temple festival for 2025.
Mi Son Temple, also known as "Linh Quang Tu," is dedicated to the worship of kings, high-ranking officials, and the tutelary deity guarding the river and sea estuaries. The Mi Son Temple festival takes place from the 16th to the 20th of January each year, comprising both ceremonial and festive activities. A highlight of the festival is the procession from the temple to the sea to welcome the tutelary deities for the festivities. Simultaneously, the shamans from the temple will travel by dragon boat to the sea to fetch water for worship at the temple, symbolizing the people's wish for the flourishing and abundance of all things.
In addition, the ceremony includes male and female ritual teams, traditional folk singing, lantern dances, drumming and flag waving, and many spiritual rituals praying for a year of good fortune, favorable weather, and a bountiful harvest. Following the water procession, with the participation of a large number of people, comes the opening ceremony and incense offering by the participating groups.
The festival included games and competitions such as tug-of-war, blindfolded duck catching, walking on a bridge, blindfolded pot smashing, etc., which attracted a large number of locals and tourists from all over to participate.
The Mi Son communal house festival is a long-standing cultural and spiritual activity, serving as a center for religious and cultural practices for the people of Quang Ha town. The festival creates a joyful and enthusiastic atmosphere for the local people and visitors from all over, while also contributing to the preservation and promotion of the local cultural values and identity.
