The opening drum performance
Six hundred and sixty-six years ago, in the spring of 1418, Le Loi raised the banner of rebellion against the invading Ming army in the Lam Son mountains. On the path to driving out the Ming, the rebel army faced countless difficulties, especially in the early stages. Due to the disparity in forces, the rebel army often suffered heavy losses from Ming raids. Faced with relentless encirclement and pursuit by the Ming army, Le Loi decided to withdraw all his forces from the Lam Son region and advance further into the Chi Linh mountains. Surrounded by the enemy who were trying to capture their leader, Le Loi, Le Lai risked his life to save his lord, disguising himself as "Lord of Lam Son," leading 500 soldiers and two war elephants to attack the Ming army. The Ming captured Le Lai, mistaking him for Le Loi, and withdrew their troops. Later, Le Lai was subjected to extremely cruel punishments, and he perished. It was thanks to that heroic sacrifice that Le Loi and his army were relieved of their siege and continued to prepare the necessary conditions for a protracted war against the Ming army.
The rugged terrain of Chi Linh mountain forest served as a refuge for Le Loi and his army three times in 1418, 1419, and 1422. This was also a time of immense hardship for the Lam Son rebels, with dwindling numbers and food shortages – a period of extreme struggle to preserve and restore their forces. During this time, Le Loi and his army, along with the people of the Chi Linh mountains and the ethnic communities in the Lang Chanh area, supported each other, sharing hardships and fighting together against the enemy.
Chi Linh - Lang Chanh became a beautiful symbol of the spirit of enduring hardship and sacrifice, and the unwavering determination to liberate the nation. In 1428, the Lam Son Uprising achieved victory, ending the Ming dynasty's domination, liberating the country, and granting independence to the people. In the heroic atmosphere of victory, Le Loi read the "Proclamation of Victory over the Ming," summarizing the war and affirming the national sovereignty of a nation with thousands of years of history. In that war, the forests, mountains, rivers, and people of Lang Chanh played an extremely important role in achieving this great victory.

The Chi Linh Son Festival and the "Echoes of Chi Linh Son" art program are occasions for generations of descendants to remember and express gratitude for the immense contributions of Emperor Le Loi, the founder of the Le Dynasty, and the heroes of the Lam Son army who fought against the invading Ming forces and reclaimed the country.
