From early morning, the medical examination area in Pray Ambuot commune, Kiri Vong district, Takeo province, was crowded with people. The atmosphere was made warmer by the kind words and care of the military doctors and nurses from An Giang province. The area where the team provided free medical examinations and medicine was once a resistance base for Vietnamese volunteer soldiers during the war to protect the southwestern border. The people here mainly rely on agriculture for their livelihood, and their material and spiritual lives, as well as access to healthcare, are still limited.

Local residents were delighted to receive medical examinations and treatment. Mr. Mun Men, a resident of Kom Penh commune, Kiri Vong district, said: “My family is in difficult circumstances, and I am sick but don't have money for medical examinations or medicine. Hearing that the medical team from the An Giang Provincial Military Command was coming to examine patients, distribute medicine, and give gifts to the people, I came immediately. I hope to recover quickly so I can work and earn money. I thank the medical team.”
Before departing, the entire team received thorough briefings on their mission, prepared sufficient quantities of medicine and medical equipment, and demonstrated a spirit of responsibility and compassion in serving the people of the host country. Despite the long journey and harsh weather conditions, the members strived to successfully complete their assigned tasks. From health checks, blood pressure measurements, and ultrasounds to dispensing medicine, all procedures were carried out promptly and meticulously by the military medical personnel. Even in the hot weather and with limited working conditions, each military medical officer provided dedicated guidance and care to the local people with utmost sincerity. In many cases, elderly people who did not understand Vietnamese received enthusiastic support from the interpreters and officers of Team K93, An Giang Provincial Military Command, to ensure smooth medical examinations.
Having accompanied medical teams to Cambodia on numerous occasions, Ms. Thach Thi Xoan, Head Nurse of the General Emergency Department at Kien Giang General Hospital, shared: “This is the third time I have participated in this meaningful activity. Despite the many difficulties, the long journey, and the hot weather, seeing the people's trust and gratitude made all the hardships disappear.” What impressed Ms. Xoan most during the trip was the sincere affection of the Cambodian people for the medical team from An Giang province. The emotional expressions of the people boosted the morale of the team members, enabling them to overcome all difficulties and successfully complete their mission of providing healthcare to the people of Cambodia.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Xuyen, Team Leader of Team K93, stated: “The activities of providing free medical examinations, dispensing medicine, and giving gifts to the people of Takeo province by the An Giang armed forces contribute to strengthening the traditional solidarity and friendship between the two countries. Through these practical civilian outreach activities, Team K93 has received much support and assistance from the local government and people in carrying out the task of searching for and collecting the remains of fallen soldiers in the neighboring country.”
Each portion of medicine delivered personally, each heartfelt greeting from the soldiers in a foreign land, contributes to further enhancing the image of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" in the hearts of the Cambodian people, fostering the traditional solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia, making it ever stronger.
