Việt NamViệt Nam04/10/2024

On October 4th, a joint inter-ministerial working group led by Mr. Le Hoang Trung, Deputy Director of the Urban Development Department, Ministry of Construction, visited Moc Chau town to survey and assess the criteria for a type IV urban area and the level of infrastructure for the planned establishment of wards within the town.

Receiving and working with the delegation were Mr. Le Hong Minh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and leaders of Moc Chau district, Son La province.

The inter-ministerial working group visited Moc Chau district.

To date, the People's Committee of Moc Chau District has organized the preparation and submission for approval of various plans, programs, and projects, including: the General Urban Plan of Moc Chau until 2040; the Moc Chau Urban Development Program until 2030; and the proposal for recognizing Moc Chau as a Type IV urban area (covering the entire administrative boundary of Moc Chau District). Compared with the criteria for a Type IV urban area as stipulated, Moc Chau has achieved 88.96/100 points, meeting 5/5 criteria and 61/63 standards, with 2 standards yet to be met.

The plan to establish Moc Chau town is based on the existing 1,072 km² of natural area and a population of 148,259 people of the current Moc Chau district. The administrative boundaries of 15 communes and towns will be adjusted to create 8 wards and 7 communes within Moc Chau town. Current assessments indicate that the areas designated for the 8 wards meet at least 10 out of 13 criteria.

During the survey, the working group members highly appreciated the results and efforts of Moc Chau district in building and implementing urban development criteria. They particularly praised the focus on preserving traditional cultural identity; community cultural spaces; and concentrating resources on building transportation infrastructure, services, and tourism . They also requested the district to clarify the specific criteria for a tourism, ecological, and border urban area; clarify the boundaries of the wards; improve urban planning; select suitable urban greenery for the streets; and ensure that the accompanying film introducing the district's overall potential, strengths, and development highlights Moc Chau's achievements.

Comrade Le Hoang Trung speaks at the survey.

Concluding the survey, Comrade Le Hoang Trung requested the Moc Chau District People's Committee to study and fully incorporate the feedback from the working group members, focusing on completing the dossier for early assessment and consideration for recognition as a type IV urban area, as a prerequisite for building Moc Chau district into a town.
