On the morning of June 25th, in Cao Lanh District (Dong Thap Province), Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang and leaders from various ministries and agencies attended the groundbreaking ceremony for phase 1 of the An Huu - Cao Lanh expressway, passing through the territories of Tien Giang and Dong Thap provinces.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the An Huu - Cao Lanh expressway was streamed online, coinciding with the simultaneous groundbreaking ceremonies for other component projects of the Hanoi Capital Region Ring Road 4 investment and construction project in Hanoi and the provinces of Bac Ninh and Hung Yen.

Phase 1 of the Cao Lanh - An Huu Expressway project has a total length of 27.4 km. The starting point intersects with the My An - Cao Lanh Expressway (in Cao Lanh District, Dong Thap Province), and the end point intersects with the Trung Luong - My Thuan Expressway (in Cai Be District, Tien Giang Province). The total investment is 5,886 billion VND, funded by the state budget, and is scheduled for completion between 2022 and 2027.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang and Mr. Le Minh Hoan, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the An Huu - Cao Lanh expressway.
Specifically, component project 1, located in Dong Thap province, has a length of 16 km and a total investment of 3,640 billion VND, with Dong Thap province as the managing agency. Component project 2, 11.4 km long, is managed by Tien Giang province, with a total investment of 2,200 billion VND.
For component project 1, 533 households are affected. As of June 24th, 511 households have received compensation and handed over the land, reaching a rate of 96%. Component project 1 of the An Huu - Cao Lanh expressway is 16 km long and is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
Mr. Pham Thien Nghia, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Thap province, said: "The Cao Lan - An Huu expressway project plays a very significant role in the socio-economic development of Dong Thap in particular and the Mekong Delta region in general. The project contributes to the formation of a strategic inter-regional transport infrastructure, serving the socio-economic development, security and defense of the entire region, and plays an important role in achieving the goal of developing a synchronous and modern transport infrastructure system according to the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam… Dong Thap province will be determined to complete the remaining tasks and closely coordinate with central ministries and agencies, Tien Giang province, and contractors to complete the project on schedule, as directed by the Prime Minister."
The Cao Lanh - An Huu Expressway is part of the Hong Ngu - Tra Vinh Expressway, approved by the Prime Minister in Decision 1454 dated September 1, 2021, according to the road network plan for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050. The Hong Ngu - Tra Vinh Expressway is a horizontal expressway, starting at the Dinh Ba border gate and ending in Tra Vinh, with a total length of 188 km and a scale of 4 lanes. This is an important route in the transportation network of Dong Thap province in particular and the Mekong Delta region in general, serving as a crucial transport corridor from the Dinh Ba border gate economic zone (Dong Thap) to the Dinh An economic zone (Tra Vinh), passing through the provinces of Dong Thap, Tien Giang, Vinh Long, and Tra Vinh.
