As of 4 PM on December 1st, the Fire and Rescue Police force was spraying water to cool the scene of a fire at a scrap metal facility in Nghi Loc district, Nghe An province.
According to initial information, at around 2:30 PM on December 1st, residents of Hamlet 9, Nghi Phong Commune, Nghi Loc District, discovered a fire breaking out at a scrap metal collection facility in the village and shouted for help to put out the fire.
However, because the facility contained many flammable materials, the fire quickly intensified, producing thick black smoke hundreds of meters high that engulfed the facility and the surrounding residential area.
Fire and smoke engulfed the scrap yard.
Local residents used available resources to extinguish the fire while simultaneously contacting the Fire and Rescue Police.
Upon receiving the report, the Fire and Rescue Force mobilized dozens of officers and soldiers and several fire trucks to the scene to extinguish the fire.
However, the fire continued to rage fiercely. It wasn't until around 5 PM that the fire department was able to bring the blaze under control.
According to the Nghi Phong commune authorities, the fire caused no casualties, but the entire warehouse and scrap materials were destroyed.
Authorities are currently conducting a scene investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
