Making billions from trash, dried bananas, and basa fish skin.

On October 7th, the closing ceremony of the "Innovative Startup Incubation Program 2023" took place in Ben Tre, with 10 projects receiving the highest ratings to have the opportunity to pitch to experts and investors.

The program was organized by the Ben Tre Provincial Investment Promotion and Entrepreneurship Center in collaboration with the Vietnam Science and Technology Enterprise Startup Fund, within the framework of the Ben Tre Province Innovation Festival 2023, which took place on October 6-7.

Ms. Le Thi Thanh Truc participated in the program with her startup project "Modernizing the collection and recycling of plastic waste". With modern processes and machinery, Ms. Truc's model currently collects over 100 tons of waste per month in Ben Tre, transforming waste into a resource and partially solving the local environmental problem.

Given the initial success, Ms. Truc plans to expand the model to other provinces in the Mekong Delta in the near future.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc An has taken advantage of the abundant banana supply in Ben Tre, producing dried bananas using solar energy since 2019. Currently, Ms. An's products are exported to many countries and are highly appreciated by her customers.

Ms. An's model both solves the problem of selling agricultural products and addresses the need for employment in the local area.

Starting with just 2 million VND to sell salted mud crabs, Ms. Pham Thi Moi in Soc Trang unexpectedly realized the enormous commercial potential of this local product. Since 2019, Ms. Moi has expanded her business to include many other products, especially shallots, and has hired many unemployed local workers.

To date, Ms. Moi's business model has generated billions of dong in revenue annually.

Among the top 10 projects evaluated by the program were startup models producing functional foods from basa fish skin and coconut waste.

Following the pitching session, the startup project managers, experts, and investors met to discuss potential collaborations.

According to the organizers, the "Startup and Innovation Incubation Program" aims to support startup ideas and projects during the product development and testing phases. Through the program, products that meet market needs will be developed, fostering potential innovative businesses in the future.

The "Business and Investor" Pitching event creates opportunities for key elements in the startup and innovation ecosystem to converge, connect with business partners, and secure financial and investment support for projects.

By participating in the program, young entrepreneurs receive expert advice and free training courses.

The Ben Tre Province Innovation Festival 2023, themed "Innovation from the Heart - Reaching for the Great Ocean," included many activities such as: the Ben Tre Province Startup Competition 2023; the closing ceremony of the Women's Entrepreneurship Competition with the theme "Women Entrepreneurs, Developing Local Talents" 2023; pitching of businesses and investors; the Green Innovation Tour; exhibition and introduction of innovation and digital transformation models…

The event was attended by approximately 200 businesses, startup support organizations, and experts from across the country.

Mr. Nguyen Truc Son, Vice Chairman of the Ben Tre Provincial People's Committee, said that this activity aims to connect businesses within the province with those outside the province. This will attract resources for innovative startup activities in Ben Tre province.
