On the occasion of the Lunar New Year of the Dragon 2024 and the 78th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Traffic Police Force (February 21, 1946 - February 21, 2024), on the afternoon of February 5, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited and extended New Year greetings to the officers and soldiers of the Traffic Police Department (C08) of the Ministry of Public Security .

Also present were General To Lam , Minister of Public Security; and Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Long, Deputy Minister of Public Security. The Prime Minister's visit was connected online with the police forces of 63 provinces and cities, as well as district-level police forces, with approximately 12,000 police officers and soldiers participating.

According to C08, based on the achievements in 2023, the traffic police force will overcome all difficulties and strive to further improve in 2024.
Currently, to ensure road traffic order and safety, and to participate in protecting the activities of Party and State leaders and the people's celebrations of the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Dragon, the traffic police force will continue to maintain maximum personnel to ensure the best possible situation, deploying patrols, inspections, and handling violations 24/7, with the spirit of "overcoming the sun, conquering the rain, working through the night, throughout the Tet holiday".
Focus on strictly handling violations that are the main causes of traffic accidents; in particular, continue to intensify control and resolutely handle violations related to alcohol levels… following the motto "no forbidden zones, no exceptions, no days off".

In addition, the traffic police force is determined to prevent prolonged traffic congestion, illegal racing, particularly serious traffic accidents, and to effectively combat all types of crime operating on traffic routes.
At the same time, officers will be stationed on traffic routes to support and assist people returning to their hometowns for Tet and back to urban areas through practical and meaningful activities, embodying the spirit of "traffic police are there when people need them, wherever people are in difficulty, traffic police are there."
Putting the people at the center is the driving force for development.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated and commended the achievements of the traffic police force in the past period.
In addition, the Prime Minister also highly appreciated that, from their awareness, thinking, and approach, the traffic police force has placed the people at the center, as the subject, goal, and driving force for development, with all activities directed towards the people; shifting from traffic control to guiding, assisting, and creating conditions for people to comply with traffic laws, contributing to ensuring traffic order and safety.
The Prime Minister stated that 2024 presents more difficulties and challenges, therefore he requested the traffic police force to continue to play its role and fulfill all assigned tasks.
During the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday, the Prime Minister instructed traffic police forces to organize patrols, inspections, and strictly handle violations; he also highly appreciated the regulation prohibiting drinking alcohol while driving, which has contributed to reducing traffic accidents caused by alcohol.

At the same time, traffic police need to coordinate closely with other functional forces to ensure safety in passenger transportation; resolve difficulties and congestion; prevent traffic jams; and promptly handle traffic incidents and accidents.
Preventing and promptly combating all types of crime, including illegal street racing; strengthening inspection and supervision, especially regarding drunk driving, contributing to ensuring that people can celebrate Tet (Lunar New Year) happily, safely, economically, and with compassion.
As the 78th anniversary of the Traffic Police Force approaches and the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Dragon is approaching, on behalf of the Government, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh wishes the Traffic Police Force even greater, more outstanding, and more comprehensive achievements, contributing to the successful fulfillment of the task of ensuring traffic order and safety, and guaranteeing the peaceful lives of the people.
