Creating new tourism development space

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Lam Dong Province “Culture - Tourism - Trade” Connection Forum 2025 recently held in Hanoi, Lam Dong Provincial Party Secretary Y Thanh Ha Nie Kdam emphasized: “Lam Dong is a place where majestic nature, colorful culture and strong aspirations converge. With Da Lat City as the center, Lam Dong is not only the “heart” of Central Highlands tourism but is gradually shaping its role as a green, creative and friendly growth pole of the Central Highlands region and the whole country”.

Lam Dong is determined not to develop alone, but to place itself in a strategy of regional linkage - international cooperation - growth model innovation. The province has been focusing on implementing the Development Plan for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister, while proactively accelerating the progress of strategic infrastructure projects such as the Dau Giay - Lien Khuong expressway, especially the Bao Loc - Lien Khuong route under the public-private partnership method.

Lam Dong is striving to become a fairly developed province in the country, with an average GRDP per capita of over 100 million VND, and impressive growth in labor productivity. However, Lam Dong also clearly recognizes internal barriers such as unsynchronized infrastructure, small and medium enterprises accounting for the majority, lacking connectivity; fragmented industry, unstable output; and investment attraction policies that have not created breakthroughs.

Implementing the Central Government's policy on rearranging and reorganizing administrative units at all levels and building a 2-level local government model, Lam Dong province will soon merge 3 provinces: Lam Dong, Binh Thuan and Dak Nong. Lam Dong province has determined that in the new development stage, the 3 main pillars of culture - tourism - trade will not only be the key economic sectors, but also a creative space to converge intelligence, identity, technology and social resources, creating a breakthrough for the province.

At the "Culture - Tourism - Trade" Connection Forum of Lam Dong province in 2025, discussions on tourism development, smart tourism with the existing Lam Dong and Lam Dong after the merger of the 3 provinces were also raised with opinions from leading experts. In particular, issues on promoting economic cooperation in smart tourism, tourism shifting from landscape tourism to experiential - cultural - digital tourism... were raised with Lam Dong tourism. Opportunities, challenges and solutions to help Lam Dong develop more strongly after the merger, impacts from new policies; proposed solutions to help the province develop cultural industry after the merger; the role of science - technology , digital transformation and innovation in the development of culture, tourism, trade in the new period; orientations of Lam Dong province to develop culture, tourism and trade in the coming time.

It can be affirmed that tourism will become a spearhead economic sector, a launching pad for sustainable, integrated and differentiated development. And Lam Dong province has been realizing this with sustainable strategies.
