Creating new spaces for tourism development.

In his opening remarks at the 2025 Lam Dong Province "Culture - Tourism - Trade" Networking Forum recently held in Hanoi, Lam Dong Provincial Party Secretary Y Thanh Ha Nie Kdam emphasized: "Lam Dong is a place where magnificent nature, diverse culture, and strong aspirations for development converge. With Da Lat City as its center, Lam Dong is not only the 'heart' of Central Highlands tourism but is also gradually shaping its role as a green, innovative, and friendly growth pole for the Central-Central Highlands region and the whole country."

A view of Da Lat city.

Lam Dong province has determined that its development will not be isolated, but rather placed within a strategy of regional linkages, international cooperation, and innovation in its growth model. The province has been focusing on implementing the Development Plan for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, approved by the Prime Minister, while proactively accelerating the progress of strategic infrastructure projects such as the Dau Giay - Lien Khuong expressway, and especially the Bao Loc - Lien Khuong route, through public-private partnerships.

Lam Dong is striving to become a relatively developed province in the country, with a per capita GRDP exceeding 100 million VND and impressive labor productivity growth. However, Lam Dong also clearly recognizes internal obstacles such as inconsistent infrastructure, a majority of small and medium-sized enterprises lacking linkages, fragmented industry with unstable output, and investment attraction policies that have not yet created a breakthrough.

In line with the Central Government's policy on restructuring and reorganizing administrative units at all levels and building a two-tiered local government model, Lam Dong province will soon be formed by merging three provinces: Lam Dong, Binh Thuan, and Dak Nong. Lam Dong province has determined that, in this new development phase, the three main pillars – culture, tourism, and trade – will not only be key economic sectors but also creative spaces to converge intellect, identity, technology, and social resources, creating breakthroughs for the province.

At the 2025 Lam Dong Province "Culture - Tourism - Trade" Connection Forum, discussions on developing tourism and smart tourism in both the existing Lam Dong and Lam Dong after the merger of three provinces were held, with input from leading experts. Issues such as promoting cooperative economics in smart tourism, shifting from scenic tourism to experiential, cultural, and digital tourism were discussed. Opportunities, challenges, and solutions to help Lam Dong develop more strongly after the merger were also considered; the impact of new policies was addressed; solutions were proposed to help the province develop its cultural industry after the merger; the role of science and technology , digital transformation, and innovation in the development of culture, tourism, and trade in the new era; and the future orientations of Lam Dong province for the development of culture, tourism, and trade.

It can be affirmed that tourism will become a key economic sector, a springboard for sustainable development, integration, and differentiation. And Lam Dong province has been realizing this through sustainable strategies.
