Nguyen Thi Huynh Nhu (from Dong Thap province) persistently weaves her own fascinating story of "making a living as a public speaker."

Huynh Nhu is currently an editor for a video production company in Ho Chi Minh City, and also collaborates as a presenter for Dong Thap Television Station. The 28-year-old has a captivating voice and is always mindful of cherishing every opportunity to learn and work.

With a proactive, serious attitude and a love for language, Huynh Nhu is increasingly achieving great success in her speaking career.

Born into a poor family, Nhu was familiar from a young age with the smell of sun-dried water hyacinths, her hands swiftly stripping fibers and weaving; she worked as a waitress in a cafe after school to earn money to help her family and dreamed of attending university. Nhu soon showed a talent for broadcasting, often volunteering to read articles and participating in storytelling competitions. She was a student who loved literature and radio. Her goal of going to the city was not only a thirst for knowledge but also a way to be herself. Nhu chose to major in literature at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City. Her twenties were not easy; she struggled with life, studying while working part-time and searching for job opportunities. Without money for nice clothes or investing in her appearance, social gatherings with friends were a luxury for the young woman.

Huynh Nhu believes that, even if it's a slow process, as long as she doesn't give up, her voice will grow with her. She is happy to be busy with sound every day. Photo: DUY NGUYEN

The hardship and isolation amidst the bustling city did not discourage Nhu, for her dream of escaping poverty was deeply ingrained in her mind. Nhu steadfastly pursued her ambition with her knowledge and burning passion for public speaking. She joined the MC club at the dormitory and at the Youth Cultural Center. Thanks to diligent practice, she learned how to regulate her volume, intonation, and convey emotions that resonated with her audience.

"I honed my skills using my ears and perseverance. Each genre is a lesson; over 30% is talent, the rest is effort," Như confided. In this way, Như diligently laid each brick on her career path. She has collaborated with many reputable organizations, becoming a familiar voice for advertising projects, podcasts, audiobooks, news broadcasts, and more. Soon, Như will be attending a professional voice-over training course to further improve herself.
