The report on the socio-economic situation of Lam Dong province in the first six months of 2025 presents a multifaceted picture of recovery and development after the merger, with many positive indicators, although challenges still need to be overcome.

Impressive numbers

According to the report, the estimated growth rate of Lam Dong's Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) in the first six months of 2025 reached 5.97% year-on-year. Specifically, the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector grew by 5.14%, the industry and construction sector by 3.79%; and notably, the service sector experienced strong growth of 7.83%. The service sector continues to account for the largest share of the economic structure at 45.62%, followed by agriculture, forestry, and fisheries at 27.26%, and industry and construction at 27.12%. As of the end of June, total state budget revenue reached VND 16,862 billion. Tourism continues to be a bright spot in Lam Dong's economy. In the first six months of 2025, the total number of tourists visiting Lam Dong exceeded 12 million, an increase of 20.26% year-on-year. Notably, international visitors increased sharply by 56.09%, reaching 798,300.

Export activities also recorded impressive results with total export turnover reaching US$1,527.21 million, an increase of 28.31% compared to the same period. Key products such as alumina and aluminum hydroxide, green coffee beans, seafood, cashew nuts, and cut flowers all showed good growth… Among them, some items with impressive growth include cashew nuts (up 194.12%) and pepper (up 96.79%)… Notably, despite new tariff policies from the US market, Lam Dong 's export businesses (accounting for about 15% of the total export value to the US) have not been significantly affected in the short term.

Furthermore, the business development and investment attraction situation is quite positive, with 1,526 new businesses established in the first six months of the year, with a total registered capital of VND 8,495 billion, an increase of 18.3% in the number of businesses and a 0.23% increase in registered capital compared to the same period last year. The number of businesses resuming operations also increased by 9.6%. The province granted licenses to 28 new projects with a total registered investment capital of VND 4,416.9 billion. To promote development, Lam Dong continues to focus on administrative procedure reform, reducing the time required for procedures related to production, business, and investment attraction. The province also promotes digital transformation and supports businesses in transforming their production towards sustainable development and green growth.

Lam Dong province is striving to overcome difficulties and continue to assert its position and achieve breakthroughs in socio-economic development after the merger.

Although some shortcomings and limitations remain, particularly the low disbursement of public investment capital, the aforementioned positive aspects serve as an important foundation and momentum for sustainable development in the future. To achieve an 8% economic growth rate and simultaneously streamline the organizational structure to meet new task requirements, at the recent conference on key tasks and solutions following the merger, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Ho Van Muoi, requested: All officials and civil servants, with their new opportunities and responsibilities, must think big and act decisively; they must strive, work together, and unite; surpassing what they have achieved before to develop the province.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also directed at the Government Conference with localities: There must be a mindset of turning nothing into something, making difficulties easy, and transforming the impossible into the possible to overcome difficulties and challenges with the spirit of "resources stemming from thinking; motivation stemming from innovation; strength stemming from the people and businesses"; steadfastly pursuing set goals and focusing on implementation with higher determination, greater effort, and more decisive action; assigning tasks ensuring "6 clear points: clear person, clear task, clear responsibility, clear authority, clear time, clear result".
