Expectations are high for the stock to remain in positive territory.

(NLĐO) - The cooling exchange rate, coupled with strong capital inflows, has led the market to expect further stock price increases before and after the Tet holiday.

At the close of trading on January 23, the VN-Index closed at 1,259 points, an increase of 17 points, equivalent to 1.38%.

The stock market on January 23rd saw a fairly strong increase. The VN-Index recovered in the morning session, rising sharply to 1,255 points with widespread gains. A positive sign was that both blue-chip and mid-cap stocks (stocks with medium market capitalization) rose. Selling pressure to reduce financial leverage eased as investors did not have enough cash available before the Lunar New Year.

In the afternoon session, the market continued to heat up with an increasing number of stocks rising. The group of 30 large-cap stocks (VN30) played a leading role in the overall index, with 26 stocks rising, 4 remaining unchanged, and none falling.

At the close of trading, the VN Index stood at 1,259 points, up 17 points, or 1.38%.

According to VCBS Securities Company, the VN-Index surge on January 23rd partly reflects investors' expectations of a positive market scenario in the final trading session of the Year of the Dragon (25th day of the Lunar New Year) and many other sessions following the Lunar New Year holiday.

"Investors can realize profits with stocks that do not have a clear upward trend, and invest in stocks with growth prospects in 2025 to capitalize on the market's recovery," VCBS Securities Company stated.

Meanwhile, Rong Viet Securities Company (VDSC) believes that the rapid increase in stock prices on January 23rd will trigger profit-taking, creating a competitive environment for the market in the next trading session.

"Therefore, investors should consider taking profits on stocks that have risen rapidly to resistance levels, and may exploit short-term opportunities in some stocks showing positive performance," VDSC recommends.
